Meet the Ambassadors – Shanthi Mayadam! 🎓 Year of Graduation: 2025 [this semester!!!] 📍 Hometown: South Hills, PA 👋 Pronouns: She/Her 💻 Majors: Microbiology and Psychology 📚 Minor: Chemistry 📝 Certificate: Children’s Literature 🎧 Guilty Pleasure Song: Just Dance by Lady Gaga 🥇 Would Win a Gold Medal In: Playing checkers (and drinking matcha lattes) 📱 Most-Used App: Camera/Photos [always taking pictures!] Hi everyone! My name is Shanthi Mayadam, and I am currently a senior double majoring in microbiology and psychology on the pre-medicine track, with a minor in chemistry and a certificate in children’s literature. My goal is to attend medical school to become a pediatrician. I was born and raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Some of my favorite places in Pittsburgh are East Liberty for great eats and the Monongahela Incline for a great view. When I’m not out relaxing or giving tours and presentations as an ambassador, you will find me at UPMC Montefiore as a student researcher in Dr. Jennifer Steel’s lab, which focuses on living organ donation advocacy, along with biopsychology, as an Alto I with Pitt’s Treble Choral Ensemble (@pitt_tce), or at any of the Pitt Campus Recreation Facilities (@pittcampusrec) as a Facilities Attendant. My favorite @pittofficial tradition is singing Sweet Caroline - a must on game day! #universityofpittsburgh #pittsburgh #pitt #pittnow #pittstudents #hailtopitt #h2p #hailtopossible A student with long black hair wearing a blue polo smiles for a headshot.
