The making of the latest Wanted Magazine cover story.

Kevin Mackintosh and Daryl McGregor share insight into their creative process — from early references and sketches through to detailed planning and close collaboration.

Rooted in a celebration of the Karoo and its resilient flowers, the work draws on a harsher kind of beauty — where the figure becomes the flower. Not simply decorative, but shaped by a dry, unforgiving landscape. Angular, architectural, with spiked, wire-like forms and bursts of pollen that feel almost volatile.

Discover more of their work on our website.

The Karoo doesn't do soft. Neither does our April Fashion Issue editorial. 🌵☀️

In The Unfolding, photographer Kevin Mackintosh (@kevinmackintosh_photographer) found his references in the flowers, thorns and cacti of Prince Albert, while fashion director Sharon Armstrong (@bettybecker) answered with local designers who speak the same language: organic form, architectural design and pieces that transcend the season entirely.

Watch, then read – Link in bio.
