POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The past weekend was #pax and it was crazy to say the least. Honestly, I was invited to do work there with content recording (which I will be uploading in the coming days), but I was mainly there for the socialising.

Every year I get to catch up with some of the best peoples and it’s just a great night when I do. It’s now officially the reason why I go to it.

There’s a lot of creators and people I wish I could have caught up with but PAX is massive, and you’re lucky to find anyone.

Were you at @paxaus this past weekend? Thank you to all the awesome people I did catch up with in the end!

“Pkmn Trainer Selene wants to battle…”

Special shout out to @retrogamecity.jp for helping me find more of the ArtFX-J Kotobukiya Pokemon Trainers, because I was fortunate enough to come across some great ones. And despite I know this one is getting a rerelease next year, I was lucky to find this as of late.

Selene is an interesting character as she’s actually from Kanto but moves to Alola and competes in the challenges there instead and becomes champion. But what makes her journey a bizarre one is the dimensional stuff with “bosses” from past games, as well as playing against Red…THE Red from Pokemon Res and Blue.

The crew at Kotobukiya do an amazing job with these sculpts, hence why I’m tracking them down where I can for way better prices for what they’re normally going for. The translation of Hitoshi Ariga’s designs (modern Pokémon character designer and former MegaMan artist) are just amazing. Selene’s design is full of energy, the sort of chilled yet adventurous vibe that just looks like she’s having fun in what she’s doing. Works very well along side either Lillie’s in the Kotobukiya series.

… so…. Update, I’m finally playing Pokemon Sun, and enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would be. Rewatching it on DVD and having an absolute blast with it. Probably my next favourite series after XY.

What were your thoughts on Sun and Moon? Do we need another Alolan based game?

“Pkmn Trainer Leaf wants to battle…”

The Pokemon 30th anniversary continues and the 30th Anniversary TCG set is releasing this week… and the reception for the first release of them is absolutely insane. Good luck to those of you who got preorders and managed to order yourselves a pack. I’m waiting on it.

In the meantime, I’m back after a break and I’m continuing the Pokémon Trainers series from the Kotobukiya ArtFXJ sculptures and today is Pokemon Trainer Leaf and Squirtle from Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green.

The sculpt is adorable and it’s really well translated from Hitoshi Ariga’s design (modern Pokémon character designer and former MegaMan artist). The details are so crisp too. It’s interesting how versatile the different designs for each trainer from each of the games are as they look like the games aesthetics but still retaining Ariga’s styling.

For those who don’t know, if you own Fire Red or Leaf Green on the Nintendo Switch, you finally have access to Pokemon Home and being able to transfer your Pokemon in and out of the game. It’s been a few months since these released on Switch and it’s great to hear they finally have compatibility with Home.

I was fortunate enough to come across the Kotobukiya Leaf and Squirtle (almost given up) and honestly, the sculpt is so good. Special shout out to @retrogamecity.jp for finding this one for me.

I originally had Leaf Green but during the mid to late 2010’s I tracked down a cart of Fire Red as I sold my Leaf Green a long time ago. But I found all the components to complete my AUS version of Fire Red (did a whole post on it a while ago). I have played it, I started with Squirtle.

I will be honest though, I want more Hoenn or Johto based content or games.

What were your thoughts on the rerelease of Fire Red and Leaf Green? Do you think the Kanto region of games is over done?

What’s your fave soundtrack??

Wfh days mean I can pop on my vinyl and work… and today’s choice inspired by a certain reveal this week that has me low key obsessed…

This Hero of Time Album, with tunes from Ocarina of Time played by Slovak National Symphony Orchestra is one of my faves, that presents the ocarina soundtrack in its full orchestral glory!

Gives my goosebumps every time!

✨FEATURE✨

We were so thankful to receive a copy of The Unofficial NES/Famicom: A Visual Compendium from our friends over at @pixelcrib!

The book which was released in 2017 and written Damien McFerran and Steve Jarratt, includes over 500 pages full of 8-bit artwork, Japanese and Western box art variations, unreleased prototypes, interviews and much more.

If you’re looking for more books similar to this or some video game memorabilia, I’d highly recommend Pixel Crib. They have a massive variety of video game soundtracks on CD, vinyl, and cassettes, books, physical games, consoles and more.

📍They are based in Melbourne, Australia AND ship worldwide!

Once again, thank you Pixel Crib for the book. We’ll cherish it for a long time. 💗✨

It finally happened…

Did my tax return and I treated myself with something I have been waiting on for a long while. I finally purchased a Nintendo Switch 2.

So I have had my Switch 1 since 2017 with the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Edition switch console, and that has been my Switch console for the most part of a decade. Now I’ve invested in a Switch 2 but I got the edition that comes with Pokopia. And I have to say… my daughters are loving Pokopia, while I have been cooking and cleaning. Joys of the gamer parent life.

It’s too early to give my judgements on the console or on Pokopia, but the upgrade feels smoother and higher res. Keen to try some of the Switch 1 games that got an upgrade on the Switch 2.

Have you invested in a Switch 2? Have you played Pokopia?

SANTA AIN'T THE ONLY ONE WHO'S GOT A LIST.

G'day people, how are you all? How's your week been so far? Mine not so good, I'm still laid up in bed sick but slowly on the mend...

Todays post is thanks to the one of my favourite stores, the legendry @pixelcrib

They have such a great collection of things from books, vinyls, cassettes & more. They're ran by the friendliest of staff, I honestly wish I could buy an item from them every week.

Recently I was lucky to get this absolutely amazing Playstation 2 Anthology X Collectors Edition hardcover book which by the way for a simple book is still so gorgeous, love that inlay artwork.

Published by the awesome @geekslinefr this book is perfect for any Playstation 2 collector, it lists every game ever released on PS2 whether here or overseas ntsc, it also lists the genre, alternative names & publishers of the game. I absolutely love the list at the back of everyone that helped make the book a reality.

PS2 was the first console I ever owned myself, I managed to buy it mates rates off a friend, it came with a couple of games, GTA Vice City being one of my favourites, who didn't love those Scarface vibes. It was the first time a console was 100% mine so PS2 holds a special place in my heart. Same goes with PS3 it was the second console I owned so both are very special to me.

I collect games for all the consoles we have but due to the market, resellers & more it's not always so easy, prices are ridiculous for some out there. I would say PS2 & PS3 are two of my favourite consoles to collect for, they had so many great releases.

I'm not saying I'm going to go out & collect every PS2 game out there that's just crazy, gotta better things to do with my life but with this list I definitely will be starting to mark off & track down other PS2 games I would love in the collection.

Thank you @pixelcrib for always being so awesome & such a pleasure to deal with, never an issue & always amazing, bless you 🫶

Please go give them a follow or better yet check out their website.
