Senior Thesis show “The Speaking bodies” Medium: Plaster gauges, Burlap, Acrylic paint My body of work combines mixed media, featuring forms that morph into a hanging totem pole. Presenting it as a totem pole is significant to the piece, as I wanted to evoke a sense of ritual and spirituality while also expressing fertility, which I believe plays a key role in this sculpture. I was inspired by the way our bodies can feel fine at times, yet still produce sounds and signals—as if they are trying to communicate something. Sometimes, we ignore these messages instead of listening, even though they may reveal something we do not yet understand about ourselves. Through this sculpture, I aim to imagine the expressions and faces our bodies might have if they possessed mouths and eyes, blending realism with abstraction without becoming overly literal. Everyone did amazing. I'm so proud of my fellow artists with their sculptures and paintings, we worked very hard and it was so worth it. Haven’t posted in a year so this is my annual report. January to December in 20 frames. Me and my pimple patches versus 2025. She was a lot. Maybe I should start a Substack. Enjoy the read! 2025 recap: Got a new job offer over the summer. Rejected it. Stayed at my current job. Leaving it anyway. Starting a new one in January. Saw my friends a lot. Lost some friends. Found new ones. Learned Spanish and a few academic things. Forgot most of it. Was blonde ish for a bit. Not for me. Wore my natural hair more than usual though. Arguably dressed the best I ever have in my life, especially in Q3 and Q4 once I finally started to understand my personal style. Sixth consecutive semester on the Dean’s List. Mentored Master’s students for work while being a senior at another school. Casual. Gained a sense of self only to realize I do not know her at all. Survived a boss from hell and approximately 3 managers in the same position within one year. That was character building. Started, completed, and presented a final project in the same class period for a brand I created and somehow placed top three. The brand story is somewhere in these frames. That is still funny to me. Spent the semester debating feminist art history and why race cannot be separated from gender, especially when discussing Black women with my professor. I still got an A. She loves me whether she admits it or not. Saw one of my work projects on Disney+. I am somehow academically sharper, professionally stronger, personally softer and tougher at the same time. #2025 was ass but the fits were good and I grew. So that counts for something, right? #goodbye2025

2025 you have been so lovely yet so horrible to me. so invigorating yet so intense. so beautiful yet so bitter. there’s so much that happened this year that it only makes me excited and terrified for what’s to come in the next year year in review: i started 2025 meeting the love of my life. in the beginning of the year, i moved on from my harmful behaviors and made changes in my career and lifestyle. many times i had to contemplate the importance of certain relationships in my life but i made new connections and rekindled old ones in the process. i went back to therapy this year after avoiding it for so long. a lot of this year was a lesson of growth, self-reflection, self-preservation, and coping through pain that i suppressed there’s a lot of people in my life that are not pictured here because i don’t take enough photos rip :,) but that’s something i want to challenge myself to do in the next year. in 2026, i hope to do more with myself, my relationships, my art. i want to be kinder to myself, let myself be me and make more mistakes without punishing myself for them onto many more moments and life lessons in 2026 🐝
