Finally posting our #1 FAV Durham restaurant🥁… Pizzeria Toro!!! I have yet to steer from the buffalo mozzarella pizza and the kale salad, they are truly the perfect combo. On our most recent date night we tried a seasonal special, the brussel sprouts, and of course they did not disappoint! Truly delicious and consistently an amazing experience all around! 🍕🥗🍷

Back when my work life revolved around hoops, not homes, Ally and I spent two summers in Chicago. On Monday morning, we would be on the first thing, smoking out of RDU. Then, Friday afternoon, we’d stop at RL, grab some oysters, fries and a bottle of Sancerre, and make sure we got in the Uber at least 4 hours before our flight to beat the traffic.

Chicago was good to us, and it’ll always hold a special place in our hearts. If you're relocating from Chi-town to Raleigh, read this:

1. Traffic is going to look drastically different:
Monday mornings, I’d land at O’Hare and budget two hours to get 18 miles to the UIC practice gym. Raleigh “traffic” is going to feel like a dream.

2. Chicago has a professional sports team in every major league; Raleigh has the Canes. This change will hit hard.

3. Not everything needs a rooftop:
Chicago summers are rooftop season. Raleigh has a great food and bar scene; it just looks different: patios, breweries, neighborhood spots, and a lot more spread out.

4. Fresh air is actually fresh air:
North Carolina does NOT have a certain recreational plant. You’re going to smell fresh air walking around Raleigh.

5. Your skyline is going to look a little different:
Chicago has one of the most recognizable skylines in the country. Raleigh is growing, but you’re trading skyscrapers and the river for a much smaller downtown and a lot more trees.

6. Snow works differently here:
Chicago gets six inches of snow and goes to work. Raleigh gets six inches, and we’ll see you next week.

7. Lake Michigan gets traded for options:
You lose having that waterfront right in the middle of the city. In Raleigh, you’ve got the Atlantic in one direction and the mountains in the other.

8. You're getting a public transit downgrade:
You’re leaving the L and the walkability of Chicago neighborhoods. Raleigh is much more car-dependent.

9. Deep dish isn’t coming with you:
I can’t replace Chicago pizza, but @oakwoodpizzabox.nc and @pizzeriatoro will quickly ease your pain.

10. Summer isn’t the season everyone waits for:
Chicago summer is basically a religion; down here, summer is hot and humid. Spring and fall are the seasons yo

Durham chefs cook like they have something to prove, even after the awards already did it for them. Link in bio.

Honestly gave up on all of you cause of that one back then. Couldn't. People hurt me and I could see I was hurting people. Been like 5 years. These would have made a sick photo op for 3 at least...

Dinner time I guess. Haven't eaten.
