So many talented and creative individuals in my life, like those in the previous and future posts on my Fiesta 55. To have them all at Casa Contenta this weekend, well, the energy was palatable. Some I have known forever. The longest pal in this post is @ok_larry_imok (pic 9 with the suave designer @pkellyevans). Long before his seminal design enterprise @okthestore —like 40+ years ago—he was one of my regular dance partners in the SoCal rockabilly scene. He graciously served as a kind of chaperone/older brother. Larry also schooled teen me on the details of what is cool in design, from cowboy boot heels to selvage jeans to Midcentury furniture. He knew it all somehow before there was the internet. And there are much more recent pals like those in the last 2 images, all shaking it up in the worlds of art and music and books. Not all of their IG’s reflect this, so dig deeper. In both snapshots are women to the left whom I’ve known for a quarter of a century, meeting through publishing in OC: @Cindy_Schwarzstein from the board sports trade pub ASR (#9) and @Nsh_Grl from the OCWeekly. I have so many circles of friends and when they overlap and become connect? Bam! 💥The energy just grows. Of course, the pink-haired belle in the first image is @TarinaTarantino. Her loving husband @fonziecampos was so excited for me to see the orchid dazzlers she customized for me, that I opened the gift minutes after they arrived. The colors of a Hollywood sunset, because they are familiar with my love of LA. Known this dynamic duo since they began her eponymous brand, and I was bureau head at WWD. Can’t wait to wear these. More than anything else, I’ve been investing in my community lately. My people and my self - Self as a concept, as a bank account, as a plant 🌱. I spent 2 decades running and cramming and working, its time to slow and till and meditate and nurture. I feel so rich.
