when reflecting on a lucky golf shot my dad used to say, “it’s not how, it’s how many.”

sorry dad, but as I reflect on your life and grieve your passing, i think you are wrong. it’s not enough to simply say that he lived an incredible life. It’s taken me almost 3 months to write this, but we must focus on the “how”: how he made everyone he met feel special, how he laughed, how he brightened every room, how he was a wonderful leader alongside @quakerlane at AVC for decades, and how he made life so much fun.

the last few years were incredibly hard on my dad as he navigated health challenges. through it all he never lost his signature wit, charisma, and sense of humor.

i always knew he was the coolest and I’ve always loved telling people about him. when we’d go out to dinner in albany when I was a kid, half a dozen people would inevitably call his name…..teddy!

i loved being his partner in crime and will always remember his charisma, wit, and magnetism.

sundays in my teens were spent golfing with him and his buddies. i loved talking through work stuff with him. he always made me think about things from a different angle — social, political, whatever — and he somehow remembered the most random details about my friends’ lives.

even through all the health battles, he never lost his sense of humor. truly the strongest man, and also the first to order a shirley temple.

in honor of teddy, ignore a few rules. give the kid with the lemonade stand a $20. tell your next house guest, “thanks for coming, and thanks for leaving” — an @alleiholway08 original he couldn’t get enough of.

i’ll miss you every day, forever, dad. i’ll try to have fun, do some good, and work hard. til we meet again. ❤️

That’s a wrap on my 31st trip around the sun 🌎

31 was a phenomenal year filled with remarkable memories—weddings, births, and even funerals of those I love. I checked two new countries off my list, experienced a total solar eclipse, took a giant leap forward with @twobuttonsdeep including the opening our very first office, welcomed my first niece, had a picturesque proposal in Paris, and, above all, enjoyed another happy, healthy year with my two beloved pups, Franny & Granny. Cheers to 32—the best is yet to come 🍻🚀
