@ykurijah talks about why you can’t let one game define who you are 💯🏀 Athlete mindset is bigger than wins and losses. If you are an athlete or coach that struggles or knows someone battling with unwanted behaviors like pornography, eating disorders, body image etc. Then these books will help you actually get to the root. Here’s how I would approach this: Start with @adamyoungcounseling Book “Make Sense of Your Story.” This book will lay the foundation to understanding where a lot of these behaviors originated. @jay_stringer_ “Unwanted” would be my next choice. This book alone will help give you language around why these behaviors will continue to occur in your present. “Desire”, which is Jay’s sequel to the book above is the perfect compliment. This book is addressing brand new research from 4000 people related to unwanted behaviors. “Outgrow Porn” by Drew Boa would be great for anyone who has been struggling or knows someone battling with porn. This book will give you a more well rounded approach. To round it out. “Try Softer” by @aundikolber would be how I would approach this all. Also I’m aware these are sensitive topics, but there are millions of athletes dealing with these behaviors everyday trying to white knuckle their way through it. Here’s an invitation to try something different.

Most men are extremely avoidant. Meaning they stay inside their head, they minimize the stress they are feeling, the check out during conflict and they always feel alone. Men, when is the last time you actually just told someone you are not okay. Like literally just broke down. I’m not talking about breaking down in the gym or over your team losing. That’s happening because you literally hold everything in all the time. When have you purposely reached out in the middle of all the shame you feel, to let someone fully see you for the first time in your life. Here’s the invitation. Stop hiding, it’s not worth it. Your avoidance is making the pain worse. Head into the storm, be the bison, minimize the longevity of your pain.
