Call for Cities 2024-2026: Cities in Placemaking, Second Edition: Americas
The #CitiesInPlacemaking program is a two-year leadership and continuous learning initiative for municipal administrations. It fosters collaboration among municipalities, creates community engagement mechanisms, and advocates for systemic placemaking changes. @placemaking_europe is now bringing this successful program to the Americas in coordination with @placemakingmx.

Updated graphic with the 30, and growing, national and regional, #PlacemakingX networks.

The placemaking movement is ready to evolve to a new level of systemic impact! The movement is well established and it’s now been almost five years since we launched PlacemakingX at regional placemaking conferences around the world, and have helped start and sustain more than 30 placemaking networks covering much of the globe.

Spinning off from @pps_placemaking, where we had developed placemaking in the 1990s and then launched the global placemaking movement and network building efforts around 2013, the goal of PlacemakingX was to decentralize and connect the movement around local, national and regional placemaking networks. Now these networks continue to grow and innovate in inspiring ways, guided by extraordinary placemaking leaders in every corner of the globe.

To further support these local networks, and help them to go to the next level of collective learning, advocacy and action, placemaking leaders are starting to organize around cross-cutting agendas. Agenda leaders are bridging to other movements and networks, and challenging us all to go deeper in our practice, purpose, and impact. These cross-cutting agendas started to coalesce around our first #GlobalPlacemakingSummit, this past November, with working groups organizing virtually and in-person around 40 agendas that have bubbled up from leaders.

We further illustrate the state of the global placemaking movement in our article, Reconnecting People Through Places: Placemaking With Local, and Global, Networks, and in a recent webinar with Gil Penalosa by same title.

Last month we gathered on Zoom with the leaders of dozens of our PlacemakingX regional and national networks, as well as some of the leaders of the emerging agenda networks, to hear their. The recordings are now available.

This and more are available in our latest newsletter, available free at www.placemakingx.org
