Began his journey as an artist in the late 1990’s and has been developing as a dance
specialist for over two decades.
A passionate member of the global Street Dance Community, Shawn has been dedicated to the
preservation and sharing of street dance forms, through teaching, mentoring and coaching the
current and next generation of dancers across worldwide.

Shawn teaches regular classes and workshops globally, and has been an integral member in the

Read to the end!
‘𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧’ 🗣️- Specifically being able to make eye contact with your opponent in the context of 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨. Eyes constantly on the floor communicates the wrong kind of message for our performance. Think “𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦” -
(A cultural practise, deep rooted in Black African traditions). Be confident in what you do and how you present it when you take the floor. 👀⁣
⁣
We can also take it further ➡️ in the context of ‘𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 &/or 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧’. How do you interact with your audience/spectators? Or maybe with the judges and participants? Before any steps or moves were established, these 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 were born out of 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭/𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘺 dances🕺💃, which until this day remains interwoven within them. Being able to maintain the essence of party dancing, is in itself communication, and an ability to dance with others is an unwritten rule.⁣
⁣
‘𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧’😳- Plays a huge role when communicating.⁣
A worried or tense look tells us something, a smile tells us something else, a blank stare also communicates something. ⁣
The choices we make, and how we use our command over expression can add ‘𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘩’, ‘𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳’ and a sense of ‘𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺’ to our movement 🤔💡⁣
⁣
Remember: you don’t need to be forcefully aggressive when you battle, it isn’t the only way to do it. You do however need to ‘𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦’ well and communicate well as often as possible!
