POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

absolutely on music @Haus73 | Holger Breuer

Closing the latest edition of absolutely on music, Holger Breuer combined minimal aesthetics with groove-heavy pressure and his signature techy edge.

Carefully layered rhythms, punchy selections, and tension-filled transitions gradually elevated the energy while staying deeply rooted in flow and atmosphere. A set built less around quick impact and more around long-form movement and storytelling.

A fitting conclusion to a landmark session for Torture the Artist.

Very pleased to announce our next guest on the series: @pete_melba_ ❤️

This one’s been a long time coming - and well worth the wait. I first met Pete back in 2021 while playing together at an event in Sheffield, and I’ve been hooked on his sound ever since.

Pete is the driving force behind Leeds-based label and party @planetorangerecords - a project that’s gone from strength to strength thanks to an impeccable run of releases. The output has a strong focus on a variety of house oriented sounds and the Planet Orange output speaks volumes about Pete’s taste and attention to detail.

A regular at his own parties, closely involved with Leeds venue The Imaginarium, and a frequent fixture at Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Pete’s reputation as both a DJ and collector is fully earned. That refined ear shines throughout this mix.

All in all, a top bloke and a seriously inspiring selector. Extremely happy to have him on the series - show it some love xx

Artist Spotlight - @pete_melba_ _

@imaginarium_leeds resident Pete Melba has been throwing parties and DJing for over 15 years.

Beginning at age 18 with a party at one of Leeds most well-known music hubs Distrikt Bar, Pete has continued his musical journey ever since, running ‘Up North’ events and starting a podcast series, before launching his label, @planetorangerecords

As well as gracing the turntables at established Leeds venues such as Wire, Mint, Distrikt, Sheaf Street, and Wharf Chambers, Pete has ventured further afield playing at Star Lane Pizza Bar, Boat Live, and The Lot in London, as well as renowned electronic festivals such as @dimensionsfestival in Croatia, and @gottwood in the UK.

Pete established his record label, currently on its fourth vinyl release, in early 2020, and has established a reputation as a respected producer, with releases on labels such as @__magiccarpet and @oblique_records .

He also has an upcoming release on the first EP from The Imaginarium.

He joins Melody ( @melowlow ) and @mattjl_dj on the line up for our party at @thegooselondon on November 7th…

Subwax Distribution Top10 selected by Baldo | July 2025

Barcelona’s groove alchemist Baldo resurfaces from the dusky corridors of the underground, bringing with him a new chart that reads less like a playlist and more like a sonic séance – etched exclusively for Torture the Artist. With the hands of a craftsman and the ears of a clairvoyant, he assembles ten soul-stirring selections pulled from the revered vaults of Subwax Distribution. Each record, a relic of dancefloor devotion, hums with the dust of late nights and the echo of whispered basslines.

Spanning the spectral lines between Minimal, Techhouse, and House, the chart plays like a slow exhale at dawn – where every track is a step deeper into Baldo’s world of shadowy grooves and understated euphoria. These aren’t mere tracks – they’re incantations, fragments of memory pressed into wax, curated with the same elegance and restraint that has long defined Baldo’s artistry. A chart not just to be heard, but to be felt – somewhere between the pulse of the club and the quiet ache of longing.
