Da BackWudz debut studio album, Wood Work. Released in April 2006 by Rowdy Records. Factory sealed with hype sticker.

Da BackWudz was a rap duo from Decatur, Georgia consisting of Marcus “Big Marc” Thomas and James “Sho Nuff” Redding. The duo released one album, Wood Work, in 2006 and the album reached the position of 94 on the Billboard 200. They signed to Dallas Austin’s Rowdy Records label and they released their first single, “You Gonna Luv Me”, in 2004.

Production was handled by Dallas Austin and Milwaukee Black, both also served as executive producers, as well as Chris “Hammy” Norman, DJ Toomp, Mr. DJ, Organized Noize, and The Execs. It features guest appearances from Aleem Hood, BIg Gipp, Bo Hagon, Bud, Caz Clay, George Clinton, Jasper Cameron, Jeff B, Killer Mike, Milwaukee Black, Nas, Sleepy Brown and Slim Thug.

Wood Work is the duo’s final album under ‘Da BackWudz’ name, as the members left Rowdy Records and by 2007, they teamed up with Heavy Slim and G Wiz to form the ‘Labratz’ quartet, releasing one album called Atlantis Rising. Along the way, Sho Nuff changed his stage name to Marty McFly, and Big Marс changed his moniker to Aleon Craft.

20 years ago today, the southern hip hop duo Da Backwudz their only album released💽"Wood Work" on April 18th, 2006 by Rowdy Records. Production was handled by Milwaukee Black and Dallas Austin, both also served as executive producers, as well as Aleem Hood, Chris "Hammy" Norman, DJ Toomp, Mr. DJ, Organized Noize, and The Execs. The album debuted at number 94 on the Billboard 200 and number 23 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums selling over 9,000 copies in its first week. Its lead single, "You Gonna Luv Me", sampled Jennifer Holiday's "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going". #RIPRicoWade

Super-producer Dallas Austin was so knocked out by da Backwudz that he signed the duo and reactivated the Rowdy label. According to him, cousins Big Marc and Sho Nuff (yeah, like Bruce Leroy's nemesis in The Last Dragon) are the best group to come out of Atlanta since he moved to the city 20 years ago. That's the kind of remark one might expect from someone who has spent the majority of the last few years working with U.K. pop groups like Sugababes and Duran Duran -- does he really think the duo has more to offer than Goodie Mob or OutKast? Even without the full support and crazy claims from Austin, da Backwudz would have a lot to live up to. They're technically from the backwoods of Decatur, but they certainly fit within the context of fellow groups and MCs that have come from Atlanta proper. They don't pretend that they haven't been inspired by Goodie Mob and OutKast, and it certainly shows throughout Wood Work, their first album.
