My #stephaniaperrieri in her fourth year 💚😍

This is the only caudex plant I have and I bought it back in the height of my new found plant addiction. Everything I could find said about how hard they are to look after and I really was sceptical. However here we are and she is thriving more than absolute ever. This isn't her fully finished growing for this year either. Swipe to see just a few of the tiny new shoots still yet to grow to full size. She really has outdone herself this year!

As for care tips - well when the growing phase has passed and she starts dying off I cut all of the stems right back then leave her to go dormant and start watering again to wake her up around late Feb/early March. She's on a windowsill that gets a good amount of morning sun. And I literally water kind of as and when I remember and she looks a bit dry. As with any plant - what works for me won't necessarily work for you. But I will say when you find your own little know how's and things that are right for your plants in your environment, always just trust your instinct and do what you know works for you. That's the best thing any plant parent can do! 💚

☀️ 1. Give it bright indirect light (or gentle morning sun)

String of Pearls loves lots of light! Place it near a bright window where it gets several hours of indirect light each day. A few hours of gentle morning sun is ideal, but harsh afternoon sun can scorch the pearls, especially through hot south- or west-facing windows. 💧 2. Wait until the pearls soften before watering

Don’t water on a schedule. Instead, check the plant. Healthy pearls are firm and round. When they’re ready for water, they’ll feel slightly soft or look a little wrinkled. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom, then allow the soil to dry completely before watering again. Overwatering is the quickest way to kill this plant. 🌱 3. Keep the top of the plant in the light

Many people focus on the hanging vines, but the crown (top of the pot) needs the most light. If the top is shaded, it will become sparse and “bald.” Bright light on the crown encourages new growth, making the plant look fuller and more lush. 🪴 4. Use a gritty, fast-draining soil mix.

String of Pearls hates sitting in wet soil. Use a cactus or succulent mix and add extra perlite or pumice for even better drainage. Always choose a pot with a drainage hole so excess water can escape and the roots stay healthy.

Hello Begonia Monday💓

I’ve received quite a few questions about how I grow my 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒂 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒂. Truth is, I don’t do anything fancy. I fertilize every two months, keep the soil consistently moist (never soggy or bone dry), and let it grow in ambient humidity of around 80–90% with plenty of airflow. Sometimes, healthy plants don’t need complicated routines, just consistency and the right environment 🌿
