“The space I live in reflects the same sensibility. It is filled with objects, both old and new, gathered from different corners of the world. My partner shares this love for storytelling through craft and often brings back local textiles and handmade pieces from his travels. “I think of jewellery as talismans, perhaps their oldest use in civilisation. There’s some pieces I never leave home without. My rings — 2 from my mother, and 2 from both my grandmothers each — and a chain from my father. It’s a modest way to keep the love of my people close to me. It protects and shields me. When dressing up I like to think of jewellery as conversation starters.
