On the road with the Grassroots Cricket Fund 🚗

Last month, Australian cricketers travelled across New South Wales representing the Grassroots Cricket Fund, seeing firsthand the impact of players investing back into the game.

With more than $25 million distributed to community cricket over the past nine seasons, the fund continues to empower clubs, support volunteers and help communities across Australia grow and strengthen their connection to cricket.

Read this if you want to get involved 👇🏏

In Adelaide, women’s Premier Cricket has two grades. Grade 1 has 5 clubs, Grade 2 has 8, and both play T20. Sydney has three grades (10, 12 and 7 clubs). Victoria also has three (9, 10 and 10).

You don’t need to have played before. New to the country, new to the game, or coming back after a break, there’s a place for you.

Here’s how 👇

👉Go to @playcricketau and find your state’s cricket body. In Adelaide, that’s SACA Premier Cricket. In Victoria, it’s Vic Premier Cricket. Same idea in every state.

👉Open the women’s competitions and see which clubs have women’s teams.

👉Think Premier Cricket is too serious? There are community/social competitions too. In Adelaide, check out the @adelaide_turf_ca - Other states will have their own versions.

👉Found a club? DM them on Instagram, or check their website’s contact page and reach out to the secretary or treasurer. Tell them your level, even if that’s “never held a bat”. Trust me, they’ll be happier than you. Clubs are always looking for women to fill their teams so they can get out every Sunday.

Don’t want to play? Volunteer! Volunteers are an essential part in running cricket clubs every week, from canteens and scoring to coaching and team management. Men’s or women’s club, they need you.
You can become a cricket umpire as well - more videos coming on this so make sure you follow!

Want to go further? Project Inspire at @cricketaustralia , led by Belinda Clark, backs women who want to lead in community cricket as coaches, umpires, administrators and volunteers.

Pick your city, find your club, show up🏏

Burwood Reserve witnessed something seriously special over the weekend.

For the first time in Burwood history two brothers have both made a 100 playing in the same team. Dan and Matt Adams put on a 189 together with Matt bringing up his ton while his brother was at the other end. Dan made his 100 shortly after with a single in over 63.

Things weren’t looking to good when the Adams boys started their partnership as the 3s were 3/43. The boys led the thirds to an end of innings total of 352.

These two are some of the hardest working people around the club and couldn’t be more deserving. Congratulations boys 💛🖤

SEEING THEM LIKE BASKETBALLS 🏀
@carltoncricket's Jagadeswara Koduru is loving his time in the middle in @vicpremcricket. Across his last four innings he has amassed 477 runs with 3 x 💯's in a row and falling just short of 4! 🏏👏

💛🖤 Not every good day ends with a win.

Interested in giving cricket a go? No experience necessary.

Our Women’s 2nds went down to Heatherhill at home today, but there was still plenty to be proud of.

A huge effort from Elle Salvato with 30 off 30*, carrying her bat and finding the boundary twice, before also picking up a wicket with the ball. Bron Curren was SHARP in the field too, getting involved in a run out.

And honestly, what a day for cricket.

A great crowd, magical weather, plenty of support on the sidelines and even some cold watermelon to keep everyone going.

The scoreboard didn’t go our way, but this group keeps learning, improving and backing each other every single week.

More confidence. More experience. More belief.

We’ll be back next week ready to have another crack. 💛🖤
