Archival study is how to elevate as photographers, us analog photographers more so. Perspective changes and shifts, as does taste. Going back to take a second, third, or fourth look at previous work offers unique opportunities to see how visual language has changed over time as well as to reflect on current iterations of work and to question if it can exist in an entirely different capacity.

These images were previously ignored or disregarded works from an on-going long term project I’ve been compiling, taken from my several visits to Arizona over the last 5 years.

I’ve spent the last several weeks sleeving, organizing, and reflecting on the hundreds of negatives I let fall to the side and the whole process has reminded me of one thing:

Include your own archives when you’re going on your next subject study journey. Your history is just as pertinent to your growth as the work of your ‘Greats’ are. Your past visual identity holds keys to unlocking where it’s heading next.

Night Sessions w/ Kevin for World Photo Day🌎🎞️

Sometimes a Point &Shoot pulls 37, or even 38, frames out of a roll and we can see what’s possible in that case on frames 4-8 here. just another reason why i’ll choose film in every lifetime🫂🎞️
