Ahead of Thursday night's 'Lions Derby', get to know NPL Vic heavyweights, Preston Lions 👋

@plfcofficial, commonly known as Makedonija, is one of the most significant teams in the Victorian football pyramid, founded almost 80 years ago by Macedonian Australians in 1947 🇲🇰

A foundation member of the Australian Championship and a former member of the National Soccer League, Preston Lions will travel to Queensland to face us for the first time since the 1980s.

It was only ahead of the 2025 season that Preston Lions advanced to the NPL Victoria, having secured promotion from the VPL. Their first season saw them finish fifth, while most recently they made the top four before exiting in the Elimination Final. When Preston Lions secured the 2026 Dockerty Cup, it represented their first major NPL Victoria title in 20 years.

Now, after exiting in the Group Stage in 2025, Preston Lions will be looking to advance to the #AusChampionship finals for the first time. We're looking to do the same. With both sides dropping points in Round One, Thursday night's battle leaves everything to play for 😤

We look forward to welcoming Preston Lions back to the Richlands on Thursday night. If you don't have tickets, there's still time 👉 Buy on our website or via the link in our bio
