What character do you associate with yourself? OR What animal would you associate with yourself?

Y'all voted for it in my story, so, here's the Bookish Besties Challenge!

This was such a fun challenge! It was cool to see what some of the common elements were and where people diverged. It was also interesting comparing their choices with what I put in my ✨ vibes ✨ post!

✨ Animal - aside from the cow, most of my friends thought, "smoll creature; could fight." I guess a cow is a big creature, also can fight 🐄
✨ Place - I am a proud Canadian, and that came through a lot. Also obsessed with large rooms full of books 😂 aren't we all?
✨ Free Space - this was a lot of fun, it was cool to see where everyone's thoughts went!
✨ Character - I loved this category and I also love how some people struggled with it, cause same. I think I related to that aspect the most tbh 😂 though I'm honoured by the choices people made 🥰
✨ Season - I find it so funny that no one chose Winter for me, despite the Canadian association. I'm not sure what season is most mine, but it's definitely not winter, so thanks y'all!
✨ Colour - I'm glad not everyone chose blue (I contain multitudes!), but I do find I'm biased towards my favourite colour in my feed and how I design my graphics 😂
✨ Book - I'm very proud of these associations cause that means I'm not in fact screaming into a void about my faves 📚
✨ Flower: I was so confused why so many people were choosing white roses and then realized it's because of my profile pic, ha!

Thank you to all my friends for taking the time to think of these for me, I really appreciate you all 🥺🥺

What's the last book someone recommended to you? Did you like it? OR What was a recent 5 star read?

I had so much fun with the 12 recs by 12 friends challenge last year! Thank you to all the friends who submitted recs ❤️🙏🏼 One great thing about reading people's favorite books is that they're almost sure to be hits. So, here's some of my ratings and thoughts on the first six books rec'd for this challenge!

These first six were all five star reads for me, all for different reasons - some because the subject matter was enlightening, others because of the characters or relatability. I am so happy I got to read some long-time TBR books, like Ander and Santi and Happiness Falls, while also being introduced to books I'd never heard of, like Queens of New York and Zoe Washington!

This year's challenge is focusing on books from my shelf and I've already started one and hope to begin another before the month is out, so I'm already on my way!

✨ // Three cheers for another year!
__
Happy New Year, friends, and here’s to another wrap-up! 🥳

2023 had its ups and downs, but one big takeaway: I read A LOT. Even with a few months of slumps in the autumn, SO MANY BOOKS. I loved it!

I found some new will-forever-rave-about-this favorites, tried some new genres, discovered the wonders of KU, and overall had a good time with reading again. While I always like reading books outside of my comfort zone, I rediscovered that it’s okay to binge-read a dozen books of a similar plot-trope structure just because ✨it’s fun✨

Also tried some new things for this year’s wrap up. She has charts! She has splashes of color! She tried to be funny at times! She’s vibing and ready for a refresh with 2024!

If you’ve followed me at any point this year, my Top Ten comes as no surprise: I’ve raved endlessly about each of them, I think. (And if I haven’t, don’t worry: I won’t stop!)

Here’s to the new year: to being bold and doing and reading ALL the things! 💪
