Music for Monday — At the edge of the pines on the bold coast of Maine, protected from the winds that sweep across metamorphic rock formed by ancient tectonic collisions, separating earth from ocean, I played through some possible Music for Monday offerings.

As I plucked through tunes, I was thinking about Erin and Patrick, who just announced the birth of their daughter, Maeve. Wandering around the strings of the bouzouki, reminiscing about the births of my own children and imagining the rush of emotions Erin and Patrick must be feeling, a new melody emerged from the wooden instrument.

It arrived on its own, a bit like an impromptu lullaby.

Congratulations, Erin, Patrick, and big sis Rory, and welcome, Maeve!

This tune is called Maeve’s Suantraí.

We had so much fun recording this episode. Dave, Brendan and Brian don't often get the opportunity to record these in the same room, but this came together on the Monday after the Deep River Muster at a gorgeous beach retreat in Maine. Good food, good friends and good conversation as we break down the Deep River Muster and talk A LOT about drums with Dave, and have a great chat about DCI and modern drumming with our friend Pat McHale. Enjoy it!

Dear GMU,
It’s been an absolute honor to watch this show come to life not only the first time around, but to relive it all over again for #PASIC50. Your dedication, genuine passion, and willingness to *fully* commit to the bit will never cease to amaze me.

You are all extraordinary performers and people. I’m so lucky to know you all and have the opportunity to capture just a piece of your story. Love yinz, see you soon 🫂💚

Last week, I participated in the @nationaletaptoe at Ahoy Rotterdam with the @21st_grey_coat_basel and the @22nd_greycoat_bn . It was an amazing week and once again, music paired with passion and friendship proved to be the best mixture to create lifetime memories. Thanks.

My WGI ageout did not go the way I thought it would.

If you told me that all of THIS was gonna happen way back in the beginning of the season I simply wouldn’t have believed you.

I’ll be candid here and let you in on a secret: it took me a long time to accept that this is the way I would age out, but in the end I honestly couldn’t think of a more perfect way to end my time as a member in this activity.

Thank you, again, GMU. I can’t wait to watch this group continue to succeed.
