🌃 Two residencies down, one more to go! At least for the rest of this year. As these residencies are taking place, we’re already laying out some wonderful plans for next year. But more on that later. We still have more to share with you of the residency in Salford last September and the most recent one in Rijeka in October, as well as the upcoming residency in Leeuwarden at the end of this month, from the 23th to the 27th of November.

🍽️ During the next residency, there will also be a Creative Embassies Community Dinner at @het.clubhuis which is free to join for anyone who would like to get to know Creative Embassies and become a part of our colorful, inter-European network. If you’d like to join, please let us know through singing up via the link in bio! The artists of the residency going on at that moment will be there, as well as ambassadors from each of the current three Creative Embassies - @walktheplankarts , @urbanisepare and @podiumasteriks.

Sign up through the link in bio! 👆 We’d love to see you there! 👋

Introducing the Embassies: Podium Asteriks ✳️

🎸 @podiumasteriks is a small music venue based in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. For many years they were housed in the Blokhuispoort, an old prison in the city, now mainly functioning as a cultural hub. They were at the cradle of festivals such as @villagefestival and @explorethenorthfestival . These festivals have grown into well-known and successful events since they sprang into existence, and with that Podium Asteriks definitely had its impact on the cultural scene in and around Leeuwarden.

🇪🇺 Another, more recent initiative of Podium Asteriks is Creative Embassies. Hence Podium Asteriks also serves the Creative Embassy of Leeuwarden. Podium Asteriks is mainly focused on giving local and upcoming talent a stage. Leeuwarden is a small city, but with a very interesting and lively art scene. In 2018 it held the title Cultural Capital of the EU. But still, it is an underdog city and unfortunately also suffers from brain drain. One of the main reasons Creative Embassies was born.

👨‍🎨 Would you like to come over, get to know this underdog art scene, and work together with an artist from Leeuwarden? Then apply for the open call! You’ll visit the city for a week, create art in collaboration with a local and present it at the end of your stay.
