From their godmothers, Georges and Giulia each received a legendary Lutyens bench, based on the original 1902 design by Sir Edward Lutyens.

The Lutyens bench was often placed in formal English gardens, especially at country estates designed by Lutyens himself. He frequently collaborated with renowned garden designer Gertrude Jekyll, and many of his designs, including the bench, fit perfectly into the gardens she created.

The benches have been placed at two resting points in the park, offering a beautiful view of the pond. Each bears a personalized message to their godchild, meant to provide them a place of reflection, a moment of peace.

One of the most unforgettable milestones in Hemsrode so far was without a doubt, the birth of Giulia and her baptism, shared with Georges’ as they are only one year apart.

It was a beautiful, sun-filled day surrounded by our closest family. Following French tradition, Georges and Giulia received a baptismal medal from their godfathers, crafted by La Maison Arthus Bertrand. Founded in 1803 @arthusbertrand is one of the oldest and most prestigious French jewelry houses. For over 220 years, they’ve drawn inspiration from rich cultural heritage to create timeless pieces.

Giulia’s golden medal features the Virgin Mary, inspired by the 15th-century Italian painter Filippo Lippi. Georges’ medal depicts the Angel Raphael, paying tribute to Italian art with the cherub from Raphael’s ‘Sistine Madonna.’ His dreamy gaze and graceful, romantic posture evoke the sweetness of childhood.

Sunshine, mimosas and lively gatherings have set the scene at WIELS Café’s reopening early February.

The occasion was celebrated with a fresh new menu and the unveiling of the two captivating exhibitions: Oscar Murillo’s ‘Masses’ with a guided tour by senior curator Helena Kritis & Jef Geys’ ‘You don’t see what you think you see.

The spotlight also shone on the exclusive creation by @delvaux for WIELS, available in a limited, numbered edition of 500. This two-tone bracelet, crafted from Delvaux’s signature Crispy calf leather grants unlimited access to all WIELS exhibitions throughout 2024.

Available at the WIELS bookshop or by reservation, all profits from the bracelet sales are dedicated to the development of WIELS’ artistic programme.

« Pour écrire un seul vers, il faut avoir vu beaucoup de villes, d’hommes et de choses, il faut connaître les animaux, il faut sentir comment volent les oiseaux et savoir quel mouvement font les petites fleurs en s’ouvrant le matin. Il faut pouvoir repenser à des chemins dans des régions inconnues, à des rencontres inattendues, à des départs que l’on voyait longtemps approcher, à des jours d’enfance dont le mystère ne s’est pas encore éclairci… ».
