Plongée dans l’univers des héros, des dieux et des légendes ! ✨🏛

J’ai eu le plaisir de visiter l’exposition « La Grèce des héros. Au temps de Troie » au @pointeacalliere à Montréal. Réunissant près de 400 artéfacts provenant de musées et de sites archéologiques à travers la Grèce, cette exposition nous invite à un fascinant voyage au cœur des mythes de Troie, de l’univers d’Homère et de la richesse de la civilisation mycénienne.

L’un des moments forts de cette visite a été la découverte d’artéfacts provenant d’Argilos, dans le nord de la Grèce, un site emblématique qui illustre plus de trente ans de coopération exemplaire entre la Grèce et le Canada en matière de recherche archéologique, sous l’égide de l’Institut canadien en Grèce @cig_icg.

Félicitations au Pointe-à-Callière et au ministère de la Culture de la République hellénique pour cette remarquable initiative qui permet au public canadien de découvrir les trésors de la Grèce antique et qui continue de renforcer les liens culturels entre 🇨🇦 🇬🇷.

Stepping into the world of heroes, gods, and legends! ✨🏛

I had the pleasure of visiting “La Grèce des héros. Au temps de Troie” at Pointe-à-Callière in Montréal. Featuring nearly 400 artifacts from museums and archaeological sites across Greece, this exhibition invites us on a fascinating journey through the myths of Troy, the world of Homer, and the richness of Mycenaean civilization.

A special highlight was seeing artifacts from Argilos, in Northern Greece, a remarkable site that reflects more than three decades of successful Greek-Canadian collaboration in archaeological research through the work of the Canadian Institute in Greece.

Congratulations to Pointe-à-Callière and the Hellenic Ministry of Culture for bringing this exceptional cultural experience to Montréal and for continuing to build cultural bridges between 🇨🇦 🇬🇷.

Things I saw in Canada that shocked, awed and fascinated me… 🇨🇦

Let me know what you think and what you would have included.

I had two weeks in Canada starting in Toronto, heading to Niagara Falls, Algonquin National Park, Ottawa, Mont Tremblant, Quebec City and Montreal. The natural beauty was amazing as well as the autumnal colours were starting to emerge 🍁

1. The ‘First Face’ in Canadian Museum of History in Ottawa- an incredible museum by the way
2. The sheer power and beauty of Niagara Falls
3. People who have gone over the falls in barrels!
4. General James Wolfe’s cloak, also at the Canadian Museum of History
5. The first public monument to Indigenous people in Canada outside the Quebec Parliament building. I went on the free tour of the building which was fascinating
6. North America’s first stone collector sewer (built in 1830s), that you can now walk through at the Pointe-à-Callière Museum in Montreal
7. The colonial burial ground in the same museum
8. Place Royale in Montreal and its dark history of the selling and buying of enslaved people. The tour was called Indigenous Led Tour: Colonial Secrets of Old Montreal with Cree storyteller Sophie-Claude Miller
9. Montreal’s Nelson’s Column, older than the Nelson’s Column in London! It is also the oldest public monument in Canada

History museum, but actually fun 👀
📍 Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal

I usually get bored in museums where you mostly read signs and look at displays 😂 but this one had so much more to do.

You can interact with different exhibits, see historic symbols projected onto your hand, try a little archaeology activity, and even explore an underground section.

Honestly, this was one of the few history museums that actually kept me curious the whole time.

من معمولاً تو موزه‌هایی که فقط باید راه بری و نوشته بخونی زود حوصله‌م سر میره 😂
ولی این یکی واقعاً فرق داشت؛ هم تاریخ مونترال رو می‌بینی، هم وسطش کلی چیز هست که خودت امتحان کنی 👀

Can you have a full day out in Montreal for $39? Our Director of Marketing, Hugo, took his daughter out to find out

She met ancient Greek heroes, won the interactive exhibit, climbed over 700 years of Montreal history and asked some very important questions in the old sewers 😂

They finished the day with fries and a beer to use up the rest of the budget.

With Canoo, they saved $42 on entry to Pointe-à-Callière, so the whole day came to just $39.
