Southern Islands Mew 🌴

Released in 2001 as part of the iconic 18-card Southern Islands Collection, this Mew features beautiful artwork by Keiko Fukuyama and one of the most unique holo patterns from the WotC era. The Southern Islands cards are especially memorable for their interconnected artwork, creating panoramic scenes when displayed together.

My copy is a PSA 8, with a beautifully placed holo swirl that really makes this particular copy stand out. The swirl complements the artwork perfectly and adds that extra bit of character you always hope to find on a vintage card.

One of my favourite vintage Mew cards and a true WotC-era classic. 🌴

The Japanese Base Set Pikachu and the Japanese Meiji Lugia — both featuring artwork by the legendary Mitsuhiro Arita. 🎨

The Japanese Base Set Pikachu is one of those iconic early Pokémon cards that perfectly captures the classic artwork style of the original era. Then there’s the Meiji Lugia, featuring one of my favourite Pokémon and artwork from one of the most important artists in the history of the Pokémon TCG.

I had the opportunity to meet Arita again this year, and I was lucky enough to have him personally sign both of these cards for me. 🖊️

Having the artist who originally created the artwork actually sign the cards makes them so much more meaningful to me. They’re already incredible pieces of Pokémon history, but having that personal connection to Arita and knowing I met the person behind the artwork adds another layer to them.

Two cards I’ll always be proud to have in my collection — and two pieces of Pokémon history signed by the artist who helped bring them to life.

1999 PSA 9 Articuno Holo

One of the most iconic Legendary Birds from the original Fossil set. Articuno’s holographic artwork perfectly captures its icy design, making this one of the standout vintage holos from the WOTC era for me.

Released in 1999, Fossil was the third English Pokémon TCG expansion and featured all three Legendary Birds — Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.

Some of my all time favourite Pokemon!

Two incredible Pokémon Topps Movie 2000 cards, graded sequentially as PSA 10s!

65 Fanciful Flight — just 5 PSA 10s in existence, with an incredibly low 7.04% gem rate.

66 The Beast Of The Sea — only 22 PSA 10s in existence, with a 23.40% gem rate.

Two stunning cards from the iconic Movie 2000 set, and an incredibly tough pair to gem. So happy to have these graded sequentially as PSA 10s!

All 3 Pokémon Topps Movie 2000 Booster Box Variants!

One of my favourite pieces of Pokémon collecting history — owning all three variants of the Pokémon Topps Movie 2000 Booster Box!

Silver Foil Box — Contains the standard Movie 2000 foil cards and features the classic silver foil packaging.

Rainbow Foil Box — Contains the rainbow foils, which have that incredible rainbow-like finish when they catch the light.

Canadian Silver Foil Box — Contains the regular English foils, but the packaging features both English and French text, produced specifically for the Canadian market due to Canadian labelling requirements.

Each sealed booster box also contains 1 guaranteed First Appearance hologram and 1 guaranteed Film Cell card, making these boxes even more special for collectors.

The Lugia First Appearance hologram is particularly iconic, celebrating Lugia’s animated debut in Pokémon The Movie 2000. It’s one of the reasons these sealed boxes have become such a sought-after piece of Pokémon history.

It took me several years of collecting to finally accumulate all three variants. These boxes rarely pop up online for sale, and finding each individual variant can be incredibly difficult.
Being able to have the Silver Foil, Rainbow Foil and Canadian Silver Foil together in one collection is something I’m extremely proud of.

Over 25 years later, these sealed boxes are becoming increasingly difficult to find, making all three variants together even more special.

Three variants. Years of searching. Two guaranteed hits in every box. One incredible piece of Pokémon history.

1999 Pokémon Base Set Unlimited Alakazam

One of the most iconic Psychic-types from the original Pokémon Base Set, Alakazam features the classic Level 42 artwork by Ken Sugimori. As a Stage 2 Pokémon and one of the strongest Psychic-types of its era, Alakazam quickly became a fan favourite among collectors and players alike.

Interestingly, Alakazam’s design was later affected by the Kadabra controversy, following a legal dispute surrounding its Japanese name and imagery. This led to Kadabra effectively being absent from the Pokémon TCG for many years, meaning Alakazam could not be printed through the normal Abra → Kadabra → Alakazam evolution line during that period.

I was fortunate enough to grade two copies sequentially as PSA 9s, creating a matching pair from one of the most recognisable sets in Pokémon history.

2000 Topps Pokémon TV Animation Clear PC4 Squirtle — PSA 10 Sequential Pair

Managed to grade two copies of this iconic Squirtle as sequential PSA 10s. These clear cards are already a tough part of the Topps Pokémon era to find in mint condition, making the gem rate very low.

With only 280 PSA 10s in existence, these are seriously rare pieces and underrated.

2000 Topps Pokémon TV Animation Clear Card PC1 Pikachu

One of the coolest and most unique Pikachu cards from the vintage era, featuring artwork by the legendary Ken Sugimori. The clear design makes this card incredibly distinctive from other vintage Pikachu’s, and grading these is no easy task.

I managed to grade two copies sequentially as PSA 10s, which makes this pair even more special. The scarcity of Gem Mint copies makes PC1 one of the standout Topps cards from the era.

What do you think of them?

2000 Topps Pokémon TV Animation Clear Card PC3 Charizard

One of the most unique Charizard cards from the Topps era, featuring the clear-card design and artwork by the legendary Ken Sugimori. These cards were originally heavily disliked by a lot of collectors because of their design, but over the years, they’ve become increasingly sought after, with high-grade copies now commanding serious money as the gem rate is incredibly low.

I sent four of these cards off for grading, and two of them scored PSA 10s in sequential grades. It’s rare to score a single 10, but to score two of them back to back makes them even more special.

2000 PSA 9 Sequential Dark Gyarados Prerelease & Base Set 2 Gyarados 🐉

The Dark Gyarados Prerelease is such a unique card, especially with the Prerelease stamp, and it’s one of those cards that instantly takes me back to the early days of Pokémon collecting. Sitting alongside it is the Base Set 2 Gyarados, featuring the classic Mitsuhiro Arita artwork.

Having matching sequential slabs like this is something I always appreciate as a collector, as it makes the pair feel like they belong together rather than just being two individual cards. Especially when you’ve graded them yourself.

You can’t beat vintage nostalgia.

1999 PSA 9 Sequential Chansey & Clefairy Holos

Illustrated by the legendary Ken Sugimori, Chansey and Clefairy are the only two Colorless holo rares from the iconic 1999 Base Set.

I graded these together, and they returned as sequential PSA 9s, making them an incredibly special pair.
