🚪🐾 Does opening your front door turn into a race to see who gets outside first?

Your dog doesn’t automatically understand that an open door doesn’t mean GO!

And here’s the thing: Door manners aren’t about control. They’re about teaching patience, building impulse control, and keeping your dog safe.

Try this simple exercise:

🐾 Step 1: Start with your dog a few feet from the door. Reward them for staying in place.

🐾 Step 2: Slowly reach for the handle. If they remain in place, mark and reward.

🐾 Step 3: Gradually open the door, rewarding calm behavior. If they rush forward, reset and make it easier.

🐾 Step 4: Teach a release cue so your dog learns when it’s okay to walk through.

💡 Trainer Tip: Your dog doesn’t have to sit! Standing or lying down calmly works, too. The goal is waiting for permission, not holding a specific position.

And remember, practice with ONE dog at a time before adding the chaos of a multi-dog household. Trust me, I know that chaos! 😂

👇 YOUR TURN!

Does your dog patiently wait at the door, or do you have a four-legged escape artist?

🐾❤️ @polkcountybullyproject JUST SAID YES TO THE HAPPIEST DOG EVER!

Meet Penelope! 🐶💕

We saw a Facebook post about a dog who had been left behind in Ruskin after her owners moved away. Sasha went to pick her up, Joanie said YES to fostering (again!), and Polk County Bully Project agreed to take her into their rescue!

And let me tell you, Penelope is AMAZING! ❤️

🐾 Loves kids!
🐾 Great with other dogs!
🐾 Good with cats!
🐾 Incredibly well-behaved!
🐾 Always has the biggest smile!

Seriously, she might be the perfect dog! How anyone could leave this sweetheart behind is beyond me.

But thanks to Sasha, Joanie, and Polk County Bully Project, Penelope now has a second chance at the life she deserves!

❤️ PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING!

Every time a rescue says YES, they're taking on another financial responsibility. Let's help Polk County Bully Project continue saving dogs like Penelope!

Meet Pumpkin. 🎃❤️

After being surrendered to our friends at @polkcountybullyproje , Pumpkin came to TLC PetSnip needing extensive surgery to repair an ear hematoma.

And this sweet girl isn’t finished fighting.

She still needs:
🐾 A spay procedure
🐾 Bilateral entropion surgery to correct her eyelids
🐾 Additional ear pinna repair as her swelling continues to decrease

Through every procedure, Pumpkin continues to steal hearts at our clinic.

We’re honored to be part of her journey alongside Polk County Bully Project.

❤️ Can we get 1,000 hearts for Pumpkin?Drop a ❤️ in the comments and help us show this sweet girl how many people are rooting for her!

Follow TLC PetSnip for updates on Pumpkin’s recovery.

Almost 60,000 views. TWO videos. 🐾

When I started sharing videos of my dogs and our training, the goal wasn’t to go viral. It was to show people what’s possible, especially when training deaf dogs.

Seeing nearly 60,000 views across just two YouTube Shorts tells me this message is reaching people.

Thank you to everyone watching, commenting, sharing, and supporting DTK9 Services.

We’re just getting started!

Today is National I Love Lucy Day, and we have another Lucy who desperately needs some love. 💔

This Lucy's story is heartbreaking.

She was found living underneath a trailer that was scheduled for demolition. But she wasn't alone. She had four tiny puppies with her.

Sadly, three of her babies had already passed away. Her fourth was rushed to the vet, but despite everyone's efforts, that puppy didn't survive either. 😢

When the foreman returned to look for Lucy, he found her lying beside her babies.

We don't know how long she had been living under that trailer or what she went through trying to keep her puppies alive.

@polkcountybullyproject stepped up and found temporary space for her, despite already being at capacity.

But Lucy is still scared, overwhelmed, and searching for her babies. 💔

🐾 She's a female American Bulldog mix who needs a quiet, loving foster home where she can decompress, feel safe, and begin to heal.

She doesn't need much right now. Just patience, comfort, and someone willing to give her the time she needs.

On National I Love Lucy Day, can we help this Lucy find someone to love her? ❤️

📍 Polk County Bully Project (Florida)

Please share Lucy's story. Somewhere out there is a foster home that could make all the difference for this grieving mama. 🐾
