This Friday, @nochesabor is back at the legendary @thegrasshopperlbc for our annual @faniarecords vs. @discosfuentes showdown! Alongside our amigos at @ilegalmezcal, we’re bringing the heat for another night of salsa brava, heavy hitters, and deep cuts straight from the crates. 🇨🇴🇵🇷🔥

First, a huge shoutout to @pollo.lbc for dropping an absolutely wild set last month. Had the Hopper HOPPING, with one heavy hitter after another, back to back! Nothing but puro fuego on the dance floor. 🔥

This Friday, Sabor is back and we’re bringing back one of our favorites. The one and only @pollo.lbc, and if you’ve been around Sabor long enough, you already know he’s no stranger to this night.

Born and raised on the East Side of Long Beach, Pollo grew up as the youngest of six, surrounded by a family where music was always playing. His older siblings introduced him to everything from oldies, G-Funk, punk and rockabilly, while at home he was soaking up the sounds of cumbia, norteño and banda. That early mix would shape the open-minded collector and selector he became—never staying in one lane and always digging for the next song he hadn’t heard before. From backyard ska shows and flyer parties to Norteño and Banda nights en la casa, Pollo found his way through Long Beach’s many musical worlds, eventually putting those experiences into his own events and vinyl sets.

That love for records eventually led to @soultimeslb, the oldies-centered vinyl night he co-founded with @djcavemanleo. What started as a Sunday afternoon for friends quickly grew into something much bigger. Now, nearly eight years later, Soul Times continues to pack the floor and celebrate the records, sounds and backyard-boogie spirit that raised them. A great part of that nostalgia came through the vision and artwork of @ivan_espinosa_lbc, whose distinctive flyers helped give Soul Times its own visual language and made every event feel like a little piece of the past brought back to life.

This Friday, Pollo is bringing that same feeling to @nochesabor with a set that goes a little deeper than just the records he collects. He’s digging back into the sounds that filled his house growing up—the cumbias, norteños, bandas and everything in between—to recreate that feeling of being surrounded by music with the family. So come ready to celebrate, sing along y a pegar el grito with us this Friday. Long Beach born, Long Beach bred, and bringing a little bit of home to the Chapulín.
