BTS: Getting nostalgic of the good times in Australia with the #Elvis fam-a-lam.

1. As always, held up by the brilliant @katewormald18 when standing in for @mandywalkerdp’s top shot of @chaydonj, our young Elvis, in the Gospel tent. Kate is a wonderful team-mate and incredible choreographer who (literally) always had my back.
2. Austin’s amazing HMU team in action backstage at 70s showroom, cooling him down, making him sweaty, keeping him tanned, checking the hair…
3. When VRS studios got flooded Austin and I had to rehearse at home. The broom is a microphone and the iron is a hound-dog (obviously.)
4. Enjoying a song and dance rehearsal with @kodismitmcphee and the cowboys (and lady!) at the Hayride. It was so much fun working with @katewormald18 to make this number and get our MT on. The aim was to make the number entertaining but be in stark contrast to Elvis’s explosive performance that follows this scene.
5. Josh (@joshua_moonen) - our steadfast movement stand in for camera rehearsals - being observed by Austin at the ‘68 special. Josh would learn the choreo and staging so Mandy could set up shots and Austin could save his energy on the long filming days.
6. Jumpsuits are a risky business.
7. Giving my best Elvis in the tour bus for camera. This was about 1am on our last night of filming.
8. I spent two birthdays on the Gold Coast making Elvis. Feeling a bit homesick I came into the office on the second one to find my desk decorated like this and took a break between filming to have a dance and eat cake. I like to think the boys were dressed up for me but I think they were backstage at Steve Allen that day…
9. Working to capture silhouettes of Elvis type moves at height to be replicated by VFX for the “Colonel’s Nightmare” at the end of 68 Special. Again Josh being a trojan.
10. The dynamic duo walking the lot after camera tests back in February 2021.

It takes a village to make an Elvis. And this was ours.

This is the only photo I have of me celebrating at the UK premiere with Baz and Austin because I was having a lovely old time.

I am bursting with pride. I can’t wait for you all to see @elvismovie. It is an extraordinary labour of love with so much movement it makes my heart shake.

(And yes I do have my hand on Baz’s bum which is not indicative of the creative process but is a career highlight. I have no regrets.)
