Muy triste con la noticia de que Shangyuan Art Museum fue demolido pese a los esfuerzos de los Artistas por evitarlo. Allí pase uno de los periodos más felices de mi vida junto a grandes artistas.

HIDDEN 2019: Polly Williams, ‘SISTER’, 2019, MDF, Tupac paint and varnish. @pollypk71 SISTER is a ‘memento mori’ sculpture. Presented in the format of a sign and created in lolly pink childlike font, SISTER commemorates my elder half-sister, who passed away as a 9-day old baby over 60 years ago. The baby was buried in an unmarked grave in Rookwood cemetery. This family secret was divulged at my family’s lawyer’s office in 2015 and has been hardly mentioned since. Unfortunately, due to my Mothers dementia, she has been unable to discuss her painful hidden secret. The aim of the artwork is to highlight family secrets, the difficulty of communication within our family and the circumstances that led to my mother’s 60-year-old secret. After half a century of family secrets buried in Rookwood, the artwork acknowledges my 9-day old half SISTER. Polly Williams is a multidisciplinary artist, whose practice encompasses, painting, sculpture, collage and installation. She combines painting and sculptural elements with a minimalist Pop aesthetic, hard edge geometric forms and the use of dynamic colour combinations, to conceptually explore auto-biographical themes. Since 2016 Polly has participated in international art residences in Beijing and Guangzhou, China; St. Petersburg, Russia; Paris, France and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Working and exhibiting internationally Polly engages with the global arts community, so as an Australian artist who has mainly exhibited internationally, HIDDEN 2019 is a homecoming exhibition for her. Applications for HIDDEN 2021 close April 9. www.hiddeninrookwood.com.au Link in bio #callforartists #sculpture #installation #themes #history #culture #remembrance #diversity #love #mourning #spirituality #cyclesoflife #passageoftime #outdoor #exhibition #siteresponsive #hiddensculpturewalk #rookwood #cemetery #siteresponsive #curatedbykathfries @kathfries_curator @hiddeninrookwood @rookwoodcemetery #ondharugland
