Came here through one of our open calls? Here’s how our curators think about placing work. 🎨

Our Director of Curation, Sarah Mohrman, walks through Purview at Gallery 85 in New York and shares a few things she considers before work ever makes it onto the wall.

Featuring work by @parsleyoooo, @pollyshindler, @esther___ruiz, @birdbirdbirdbirdbird, @lisha_bai, and @alexandra_defurio

A few takeaways for artists:
Quiet work matters just as much as bold work. Scale and materials have to make sense for the architecture. And six very different artists can share one space without needing to look alike.

That’s a big part of how our curators think when reviewing Commercial Ready submissions. We look for strong individual work, then think about where it could make sense for a client, a room, or a larger collection.

Our Commercial Ready open calls are live now, including three free regional calls closing October 31. Selected work may be pitched for sale to ATP.art clients for future projects. Apply through the link in bio.

We run new open calls every month. Follow along so you don’t miss the next one.

On Friday September 18 from 5-8pm, we celebrate the opening of a two-person show in the workshop, featuring the ceramics of Jennifer Langhammer and the papier-mâché of Polly Shindler! We’re honored to host these two fantastic, fanciful artists who manage to blend heirloom practices and hyper-familiar subject matter into something incredibly uncanny and delightful.
