A revisit of the photoshoot that I produced for @inblackmagazine with legendary model CoCo Mitchell.

CoCo Mitchell, the legendary model born in Florida and raised in New York, believes in seizing the mo-ment. Discovered on Fifth Avenue and signed by Eileen Ford, she brought diversity to the pages of Glamour and Mademoiselle magazines in the 1970s. Notably, she was also among the first African American women to be featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
One misconception about Mitchell’s career is that her recent work signifies a comeback. In fact, she clarified in an interview with Harpers Bazaar that she has been consistently working for the past 40 years. Mitchell, who is now in her 60s, challenges the notion of a limited shelf life for runway models and serves as an example that age is not a barrier. With her striking five-foot-ten figure, cropped hair, commanding walk, and captivating features, Mitchell stands out. However, her enduring career spanning multiple decades remains exceptional in an industry that has traditionally prioritized youth and marginalized visibility for Black models.

Il Posto Accanto (@ilpostoaccanto)

One of my favorite places in the East Village is Il Posto Accanto along with its most special owner and hotesss..

The Empress of East Second Street
For over 20 years, Beatrice Tosti di Valminuta and her husband, Julio Pena, have turned diners into devotees at their trattoria, Il Posto Accanto.

Pasta, Love, Wine and Good Times . Since 1999, from Bea & Julio ❤️ Petunias, call for a reservation ❤️ A Grumpy human will answer..

I absolutely love this place. It was almost my kitchen when I was living on East 2nd St. Always fresh always incredibly consistent with the most amazing atmosphere!

In the world of vintage costume jewelry there are some very rare, important pieces such as this iconic Pierre Cardin 1971 plexiglass collar necklace, documented in The Book Pierre Cardin Sixty Years of Innovation, absolutely timeless! I was sad to miss The Pierre Cardin Exhibit at The Brooklyn Museum! the same necklace is in yellow in The Pierre Cardin Sixty Years of Innovation. I was lucky to see a similar one in London on my last visit in a private Collection thanks to Pauline #PierreCardin #iconic #seventies #rare #plexiglass #collar #necklace #lightweight #pierrecardinsixtyyearsofinnovation #documented #history #bookpiece #london #museumquality #timeless #brooklynartmuseum #privatecollection #fashion #important #opart
