BILLY PRESTON DOCUMENTARY WINS BOTH BEST FILM AND AUDIENCE AWARD AT LIMEHOF MUSIC DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL

Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It has won two of the top honors at the @limusichalloffame Music Documentary Film Festival: Best Film and the Audience Award for Best Film.

Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Paris Barclay, the documentary explores the extraordinary life and career of Billy Preston, the Grammy-winning musician whose distinctive keyboard playing and collaborations helped shape the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton and many other legendary artists.

From performing with Mahalia Jackson as a child to recording his own enduring hits—including “Will It Go Round in Circles,” “Nothing from Nothing” and “You Are So Beautiful”—Preston left an extraordinary musical legacy that extended far beyond his own recordings.

The film also examines the deeply personal experiences Preston kept private during his lifetime, offering a more intimate portrait of the man behind the music.

The Audience Award for Best Film was determined entirely by festival attendees, recognizing the documentary that made the strongest connection with the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame Music Documentary Film Festival audience.

The Best Film Award celebrates outstanding storytelling and filmmaking, along with a powerful connection to its subject and a lasting impact on audiences.

Director @pkcbarclay:

“Thank you LIMEHOF Documentary Film Festival for honoring our film. We started this project knowing Billy Preston’s music and came out feeling like we knew the man — and loving him. It means a lot to see audiences loving Billy as well, and keeping his incredible spirit alive.”

PETE TOWNSHEND: BEHIND BLUE EYES | EAST COAST PREMIERE

PETE TOWNSHEND: BEHIND BLUE EYES is an in-depth exploration of how the legendary guitarist turned The Who into one of the most boundary-pushing bands of a generation. However, at the height of that success, Townshend faced a personal crisis that threatened to destroy the band—and himself. Out of that tumultuous period came ‘Lifehouse,’ a science-fiction rock opera that sent him on a journey of self-discovery that reshaped rock history. This intimate documentary uncovers a pivotal chapter in rock history, revealing how one man’s struggle became a powerful catalyst for creative transformation. Directed by @ledoctor and @nsinclair_whp and written by @cassidy__jane and Sam Bridger!

The film is a production of Kennedy Marshall Documentaries, White Horse Pictures and VICE Studios and is presented by Sobey Road Entertainment in association with Spirit Music Group, Polygram Entertainment and Trinifold Management.
