Cloud Vigil by Albert Rendle @polygwon is now available through @halfofvenus. Enquiries via our website. Albert Rendle. B. 1997. Albert Rendle’s paintings are characterised by a bold, restricted colour palette, using subjects that have been stripped back to their basic form. Each work contains the components of a memory without being one. Landscapes feel familiar, faceless crowds feel detached, their form observed without recognition, suns setting and clouds moving by. The organic imagery becomes a signal of safety to a primal human part of us, while simultaneously keeping the viewer one step back, and within a sense of unease. As with the formation of a cloud, the process of creation is open to any outcome, a raw edge being guided by intuition and emotions, filtering information as one would whilst taking a stroll. The mind fills in the gaps, creating its own associations through symbols and silhouettes.

🚨LINEUP UPDATE - Our biggest barn dance to date just got even bigger ‼️

@theciderbox have given us the license to go through until 2am - so we’re bringing some more friends for the ride, as well as bringing in @murmur.sound.system :

@snapsofbruce will be stepping up for a very special headline slot. The @poorlyknit_uk boss’s work in the studio and behind the booth has been a constant source of inspiration for us over the years. Bring an open mind and wade in with us.

@dom__carlo and @axle_sound will be teaming up to bring a selection of dubwise pressure, invoking the palettes of early dubstep and Livity Sound as the framework for their forward thinking dancefloor grooves.

@hey____wood and Sarge will be coming up from London to open things up with a record bag full of tasty house and techno treats.

🪂 We’re rounding out summer with a day-to-night bassweight special, hoisting the mast at @theciderbox and sailing on into the sunset.

A closer look at some of the works in Volume 8 of @auto___amor in collaboration with @traction.projects (Part one!) ➡️

David lain Brown’s practice investigates material memory, process, and transformation through abstraction. Central to his practice is the reuse of discarded materials, including fragments of earlier paintings, repurposed canvas, studio rags, and found remnants. The paintings function as both object and archive, where surfaces are continually disrupted and reconfigured.

Ana Bebic paints people, landscapes, and figures in nature, often drawn to everyday moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. Her work is rooted in observation and in taking time to look more closely.

Matt Bray’s practice is deeply process-centric, driven by the core tenets of color, mark-making, and composition. His work balances deliberate abstract structure with an unplanned, intuitive discovery.

Claude Vergez’s lattice forms exploit perception’s playfulness. Three-dimensional figures hover against an amorphous ground, starting to unravel as our gaze travels along a line that twists and turns, running over and under itself like an endless, interlacing rollercoaster.

John Elliott’s work plays with form and scale, using found and recycled objects together with inappropriately low-tech materials like wood and paint to create objects that mix furniture, architectural models, and cargo cult facsimiles of robots and machines. He is interested in nostalgia for the future we were promised but which never arrived.

Albert Rendle’s work is characterised by a bold, silhouetted earthy colour palette, featuring subjects that have been stripped back to their basic form in order to muddle obvious meaning, finding links between the symbolic nature of their shape, and their normal associations.

Malcolm Robertson's work draws on ideas about the conveyance of memory, time and space and often features elements of folklore, fable and mythology relating to childhood experiences. His xylotheque forms create chests to contain fragments of drawings of a particular place in time from memory.

Join us for the closing party on Sat 18th July, 3-5pm!
