LAKSA // 17.10.26

As the weekend draws closer, we introduce Laksa, who has become one of the most distinctive voices in UK techno and bass music. 🚨

Originally from Bristol and now based in London, Laksa has developed a sound that draws on the soundsystem culture he grew up around, bringing together UK bass, breaks and techno. His productions have found a home on some of the most interesting labels in the scene, including Timedance, Hessle Audio, Mistry, Ilian Tape and AD 93.

Laksa’s sound is deeply rooted in soundsystem culture, moving between dubstep, 150 BPM techno and more experimental club sounds. His productions are full of heavy percussion and broken rhythms with a strong dancefloor focus.

Alongside fellow DJ and producer re:ni, Laksa is one half of re:lax. Over the last five years they’ve built it into a platform of its own, through their monthly NTS shows, label releases and parties, bringing together artists from across the scene.🏋️‍♂️

We’re looking forward to hearing his unique party-starting weight on @polyoneaudio as part of our 12-hour session! 💪

INTRODUCING: Polyone Audio

Providing the sound for our 12 hour bass session in just under 3 weeks is @polyoneaudio, a North West soundsystem founded and run by @_________waxtek

Built from the roots of free party culture and inspired by traditional soundsystem culture, Poly One brings warmth and character together with serious low end pressure.

Getting the sound right is important to us, and a system that is constantly evolving and focused on musicality across a full spectrum fits perfectly for 12 hours of bass in all its forms

We’re looking forward to hearing the soundsystem shape not just the sound, but the energy of the space all day and night long!

Proper funeral for the MDF super scoop (Ugly Duckling) to make room for our 8th Polar Scoop, freshly built by @kev__original just in time for @mcrcarnival 🔥🔊

RIP to The Ugly Duckling, which has been a part of Big Tone since the very start, so it's only right we sent it off the right way!

Swipe to the end for some fiery stupidity from @polyoneaudio's Fred 🐦‍🔥

We have also just picked up a @powersoft.official X8 amplifier for the rack, no messing about!! Get in touch for bookings etc.

Big fucking weekend! Big ups to all inside the ride!

Friday had the pleasure of looking after @paranoid_london hybrid acid techno set for @24kitchenstreet @thewonder.pot

Saturday and Sunday @liverpoolsoundcity for @artsclubliverpool

Out to the firm that make it all possible - the maddest situations are manageable with the dream team x

My sleep schedule is made up to announce I'm stepping down from tech manager at @kazimierstockroom - it's been a wonderful ride and I'm looking forward to coming back as a freelancer under the management of @zarasm1le !

Big love I'm going to sleep for the rest of today xx
