We’re still buzzing after the Mercury Prize Fringe brought the arcade to life on Saturday with six incredible North East artists performing in the market throughout the day.

What a day it was celebrating local music and showcasing some of the regions rising stars right here in the heart of Newcastle ❤️🎶

Saturday took Mercury Fringe across Newcastle, from the market floor to the big screen and into the underground.

At Grainger Market, Grainger Market Unplugged brought six emerging North East artists together for a day of acoustic sets, with @fawnsband, @sambennett_music, @helspattisonmusic, @joshwebbmusic, @polyvinylband and @bearparkmusic soundtracking the market.

Over at @tynesidecinema, Sam Fender’s landmark London Stadium show hit the big screen for a special premiere, with a panel exploring the music, the moments and the story behind it.

Meanwhile, @publichousehifi brought Newcastle music legend Tommy Caulker to @gingerinos for an afternoon of records, stories and a five-hour set, joined by residents diz_jockey.publichouse and @vinnyvins.publichouse.

And over at @thelubberfiend, @bykergrave took things in a heavier direction, with
@kylvermusic, @lucid.sins and @johnnydandthespacecadets bringing progressive rock, doom and psychedelia to the stage.

Four events, four very different sounds, all celebrating the talent, history and communities that make the North’s music scene what it is.

Sunday, we’re back at it. Get involved at generator.org.uk/mercuryprizefringe

Episode 2 of Echoes on Air is now live on Radio Ouseburn!

This month’s show features conversations with Polyvinyl, Annis Rallis and successpit, plenty of music to discover, and my latest thoughts on gigs, new releases and what’s happening across the Northeast cultural scene.

If you fancy some company while you’re out walking, driving, pottering about at home or just sitting down with a cuppa, I’d love you to have a listen. 🙂

You can find the show on the Radio Ouseburn app. Just search for Echoes on Air.

And if you discover a new favourite artist along the way, even better!

Episode 2 of Echoes on Air is coming tomorrow, courtesy of the lovely @radio.ouseburn ! 💕

I’ve had a lovely time putting this one together, with more brilliant music, conversations and plenty to talk about from across the Northeast music and cultural scene.

I chat with Polyvinyl, Annis Rallis and successpit, alongside sharing some of the music I’ve been listening to, gigs I’ve been to and cultural happenings worth getting out of the house for!

There’s so much talent out there, and I love having another way to share some of the stories behind it all.

📻 Listen from Saturday 10th October on Radio Ouseburn. Just head to the Radio Ouseburn app and search for Echoes on Air.

I’ll be sharing the full playlist on Sunday, so do keep an eye out for that too!
