Hi friends! In an effort to organize all of my hats I’ve created two new profiles with specific focuses on fine art and art education.

@heatherksmith.studio is where you’ll find my original artwork, including acrylic, watercolour, and oil paintings, stained glass, drawing and collage, sculpture, digital illustration and face-painting, too. ✏️ 👩🏻‍🎨

@heatherksmith.teaches is where you’ll find projects, shows, and demos related to teaching art to youth in the GTA, privately and via Dundas Valley School of Art (@dvsa.ca). 🎨 🙋

@ponytornado shall remain my personal domain for friends and family, or anyone intrigued by random eclectic nonsense 💁🏻‍♀️🌿

Thanks for being here! ✨

After an absurdly busy October I wasn’t sure I’d rally for race-day, but we did it! @funhaverandrew and I ran the @hamiltonmarathon road-to-hope half this morning. A tad slower than our half back in 2019 - but as you can see from the final pic we were training harder and a little fitter five years ago 😅 . @bilbo.bones brought his moms to cheer us on and met us at the finish line with Gatorade and donuts 🩵 what a beauty day we had for it, too. I accidentally started the wrong playlist and ended up running to my very chill “Studio One Jams” classroom playlist which is prooobably the one and only reason that Andrew beat me by a minute and thirty-six seconds…!! I’ll get you next time gadget.

LOVED repping @dvsa.ca at @tellingtalesorg yesterday! Along with extraordinary assistants @jxxnle and @heathsdavidson we guided hundreds of excited youth in designing their own storybook characters and mixed media pieces inspired by the @rbgcanada gardens around us! Telling Tales is a dream festival that child-me would’ve been obsessed with. It was so cool to see such a successful and packed event promoting children’s literacy in Hamilton. Thank you Telling Tales for having us out! Thank you @lisa.d.jefferies for organizing and coffee and resupply runs!! 😄🎨🌸🍄🌿📚

Summer 2024 (excluding work because half of my phone capacity is now children’s artwork, for another post, maybe!). Zinnias were the stars of the garden. Andrew got a special megaman bday card coloured by summer campers. Ammu lounged. Saw some delightful cans of tomatoes at the store, and a beauty backyard sky and some hens at Serena’s. Spent some days with pals and a puppy in @algonquin_pp and learned to paddle board (love it a lot). Hot pot din with friends! Leah and Marita’s beautiful wedding! And our anniversary trip to @killbearpp welcoming September. Alf was there. Bye summer!

Brush-marker doodle I made for @funhaverandrew in advance of our tree trekking adventure; obviously a perfectly accurate prediction. Initially drawn p quickly while looking to Disney’s Tarzan for reference 😅. Decided to play with digital colouring and kind of dig it. #brushmarker #digitalcolouring #canadianclimbing #accurate #natureboy and #naturegirl

Yesterday morning we celebrated two years together (+ 1 week) and played in the treeeees. I am unable to finish a zip line without psyching myself up for the landing and expelling all of it with an AUGHOOF when I hit the platform. Top notch good times. (Sorry I could not get vids of Andrew since women’s clothing doesn’t have good enough pockets to safely carry my phone into the canopy) #weeeeeeeee #treetoptrekking

The night before their wedding my cousin @karalena and her partner @carlypettinger invited everyone to a bonfire next to the ocean.
