Many parents complain — “My child is so stubborn!”
But sometimes… we unknowingly increase that stubborn behavior.
Here are 5 things parents should avoid 👇
1️⃣ Changing our NO to YES when they act stubborn
When we say NO first and then say YES because they cry, shout, or argue…
We are teaching them that stubborn behavior works.
They learn: “If I push harder, I will get it.”
Be calm, but be consistent.
2️⃣ Calling them ‘stubborn’ again and again
When we label a child as “stubborn,” they start believing it.
Children grow into the words we use for them.
Instead of labeling, guide their behavior.
3️⃣ Arguing and over-explaining in the moment
When a child is emotional, logic doesn’t work.
Too much explaining during anger turns into a power battle.
First calm the situation, then talk.
4️⃣ Over correction and too many instructions
“Don’t do this… sit properly… talk properly… behave properly…”
Too much correction makes them resist more.
Choose what really matters and let small things go.
5️⃣ Acting stubborn ourselves
If we refuse to listen, don’t cooperate, or raise our voice…
We are modeling the same behavior.
Children copy what we do, not what we say.
✨ Stubbornness is often a sign of strong will.
Guide it with patience, not ego.
Parenting is not about winning.
It’s about understanding. #parenting #kids #stubbornchild #parentingtips momlife #indianparents family Kolkata instagram youtube you
