Off-Man ≠ Backpedal & Pray 👀🏈

Playing off-man coverage isn’t about giving the receiver a free release. It’s about controlling space, staying square, reading the receiver, and breaking when the route declares itself.

Here are a few keys I focus on:

🔹 Eyes: Don’t get caught staring at the QB. Read your keys and stay connected to the receiver.

🔹 Leverage: Know where your help is and use the sideline/hash as an extra defender.

🔹 Patience: Don’t open your hips too early. Make the receiver show you where he’s going.

🔹 Break: Once the route declares, trust your technique and attack the football.

The goal isn’t to react late.

The goal is to make the receiver feel like every route has less space.

That’s the difference between covering someone and playing coverage.

Everybody wants the results.
Everybody wants the offers, the highlights, the recognition.

But nobody can fake the work.

Every rep. Every sprint. Every mistake. Every correction. That’s where athletes separate themselves.

Don’t just talk about getting better. Train for it.

Sometimes you just need to work on the basics. Everybody focuses on the fancy looking drills but forget simple mechanics. Here’s a nice drill that I implement as a warm up before I get into my specifics.

You never know when the ball is going to pop out, but you should know what to do when it does pop out ‼️

DB’s MAKE SURE YOU ARE snapping your 👀 to your target (cone/receiver) out of your breaks, & Keeping your shoulder shoulder down so you can have quicker transitions. Quick transitions will help you make more plays on the ball. More plays on the ball will get you paid💰

Come work with a current Pro & one of the best DB Trainers in the area ‼️

A great way to get your feet active at the beginning of a training session. Hex Rings give me a sense of body control and quick twitch activation. As a Pro DB, you have to be very detailed with your feet. This is why I implement footwork at the beginning of my training sessions.
