- After years of using my step-Grandpa’s old Nikon as decor, I finally decided to bring it out for a snowboard trip to Vermont. As the camera is fully manual I struggled with settings and with lighting in the cloudy weather all weekend long. In the afternoon the clouds finally broke and I got this shot. There’s so much I love about it, with the pastel blue, the chair in the middle of the cloud break while getting highlighted by the dying light and the wires also creating a frame through the clouds.

Now it’s my first photo to get showcased online for a photo essay, and by one of my favourite publications @torment_mag . Link in bio for the essay. Hopefully the next one is in print 👀

Here’s the reverse angle of @charlesbeckinsale wild catting over a road in Lake Tahoe for the 2008 @popmag movie “Two Weeks In ______” We had to whip the boys in behind @willychapter’s sled to get speed on the flats. A one-footer frontside air of @gus.st.leon ran in ANZ Snowboarder Mag that year. Note @nideckersnowboards Team Manager @tpelley who came along to help with sled runs and to shoot fireworks at us all🧨🚀🎆🎇

Another epic shot as requested by @charlesbeckinsale himself. Massive first-hit frontside 360 at a classic Tahoe spot on 29 February 2008. I love the graffiti inside the old transcontinental railway tunnel and how Donner Lake is completely frozen over. And also how close Donner Pass Rd and I-80 look.
It was a big snow year and right in the peak of the season when @popmag came to film their video “Two Weeks In _____”. We all hired snow shoes to hike up with all our snowboard and camera gear from Donner Lake. I think I only took this one photo as the next rider nearly seriously injured himself getting hung-up on the whippy jump. No one else was keen to hit it after that. But at least we got a few spring-like pow turns on the way down but had to really pick the exit as the snowbanks were close to 10 feet/3m high around the houses and streets.

With the new release of @videograss Search Party I took a little walk down memory lane & reached out to @janmatthewsnarski an Australian filmer who was on salary for VG in the beginning for a little catch up .Here’s what he had to say about those days & also an interview from @popmag issue 12 2009 at the time of the release of the first film . The cable car top station of @schilthorn_pizgloria attracts lots of James Bond tourists visiting Blofeld’s secret lab in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but also has an amazing view of the Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger peaks. @chiefofreddog & I almost gave an Asian tourist a heart attack when we just decided to launch into the pow straight from the viewing deck balcony … Well it’s what George Lazenby would have done, isn’t it?
