Oh hey it’s the best dad in the world. You taught me about love, music, Saturday breakfasts, building stuff in the garage while blasting Simon & Garfunkel…we went over the poetry in the lyrics of important songs, you taught me philosophy in grade school, and regretfully taught me the word “interdependent” when I was about 5 or 6. Having accountability from a kindergartner must of have been something. I thought we were rich until, well, I still do because we had love and fun and so much laughter. You are our local Steve Martin you may have missed your calling in comedy after being scouted at my wedding for representation because of your speech. Sometimes my friends would come by and I thought they were there to hang out but they wanted to talk to you about hard stuff. You were the community father and I was lucky I had first priority for a good talk. You made holidays sacred and bad days not so bad. You taught me sentimentality to its highest volume of The Carpenters while not taking life or myself too seriously. The blueprint of a dad. I have the most incredible memories growing up and some I don’t remember like being taken onstage as a baby with you on karaoke nights and we both wore pink wigs? You are way too cool for us but you’re so incredibly humble and kind we forget in a good way. You didn’t have to do all that you did for me and for your community but that’s just you. I’m so lucky you’re my dad. Happy day of surpassing all baseline expectations of fatherhood and winning some sort of best in show prize for it! I can’t wait to see you be a Grandpa. Take all your vitamins we need you for a long, long time.

Girls Talk is a classic rocker from 1979 Elvis Costello wrote and Dave Edmunds made famous. The song was recently used at the end of the hit series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which motivated me to record my own version. Fun song to play and sing, I used my Rickenbacker guitars 625 & 660-12 and my Rickenbacker 4003 Bass on the recording. Also Yamaha keys, and my Ludwig classic drumkit.
