We had to pull this one out of #TheVault! I say this with all due respect… @lspensersmith has a PEN that is UNDEFEATED! This song IS one of the most GAME CHANGING songs EVER!

It was only RIGHT that my kiddos @rgeberklee started learning it this week.

It’s a rough take as this was our first time rehearsing it!

WHO REMEMBERS THIS SONG? 🙌🏾

Whew… this one was meaningful to me. 😥 As a product of DFW I still like referencing my roots in some way. I still remember watching videos of the DFW big homie Shaun Martin and his go-go parties (I’m late bc I should’ve posted this back on Shaun Martin Day) - and I felt like that would a good vibe to jam out to at the end.

And of course who doesn’t love a Timothy Wright classic??

If you’ve been following me long enough, you know I have this addiction to cutting the beat in half lmbo - so I wanted a song that the whole band knew and could play without a lot of effort while also driving the song forward with the beat switch (idk why I picked a @rickydillard song and Quad was there lol)

OAN: Lucky Daye is one of my favorites rn and if I could’ve figured out how to shed to the whole second half of “Soft” that night, I would’ve 😂😩 @kdrum123 kept distracting me killing so bad!

#SMAC! 🙌🏾 what a complete honor it was to be a part of the Smac conference in Birmingham this year! I had never been to Smac but what a humbling experience to be able to partake in such an amazing event!

I’m still shocked to be called one of the bass players for an all girl band of humble women from all across the country! Grateful that I also got a chance to do what I have always done all my life which is singing 🎤🙏🏾

for those who are new to my story, I am a singer who picked up the bass and started practicing during the pandemic. It is wonderful to see the doors that have opened and the connections that came because of a simple shift in my desire to evolve. 😩

I picked up some new family members (followers supporters) who only know me for playing bass while there is a great deal of people who only know me for singing and bringing those worlds together has overwhelmed my heart in a way that it’s fueling me to continue growing and creating!

I pray this inspires people to evolve and continue becoming who you were always meant to be

Again I’d like to thank Auntie Do @dorindaclarkcole for sharing her platform in a way that changes lives for multiple generations and for pouring knowledge into the church of today! Thank you for standing with us and encouraging us to change the world for the better! Thanks to @sabrinabanksmusic for recommending me to the team! 🤗 and thanks to my sisters @twannettamoniqueferebee @tamekaferebee @toshmarieee for the pep talks and support! 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️

A peek into my head while I was arranging this…

I’ve been studying a lot of other arrangers lately - a big thing for me is trying to create Strange Arrange level moments as I’m thinking through songs and transitions.

When I was tasked with creating something for the female band to play to, I wanted to incorporate songs that everyone would recognize (Call Him Up - @officialkeithpringle) while also injecting the flavor of other songs like He’s Up There - @markhubbard1015 . And THEN once I settled on “Call Him Up” I pulled in the samples from @bsladenow ‘s song to set up the intro 💡

The BAND/Minstrels • I’m a BLESSED & GRATEFUL Pastor. I understand the relationship between the PASTOR (the chief Worshipper) & the Levitical Priesthood (BAND & Singers) and how crucial it is for there to be agreement and enjoyment in our service to God. These men and women get it and are also flexible to God’s flow. @kingdombuilders.boston WE ARE BLESSED! I just felt like giving them public appreciation today in a season where they’re not corporately acknowledged and appreciated. What they do helps all of us to get our breakthrough from God! THANK YOU!!!!
