Q. What's in the flask today? A. Organic Nettle Tea from @porterhilltea.

This is my love letter to the humble stinging nettle. Brewing up an unattractive greeny grey with a funky almost composty aroma, it's never going to be the first dance pick for the tea prom. But bear with it, because it's silky smooth, wonderfully earthy, virtually impossible to over brew, and even tastes good when it starts to go cold. Nettle is the album track that becomes your favourite without you realising.

When it comes to health, green tea, matcha and hibiscus are what I get asked about most, but rarely nettle. This unsung hero is anti-inflammatory (great after exercise or if you have arthritis or a prostate), antioxidant (damn those pesky oxidants to hell), antihistamine (hayfever sufferers take heed), antibacterial (watch out skin conditions) and may help with cholesterol, high blood pressure, balancing blood sugar, urinary health and fighting some cancers. I'm not saying it's a miracle cure and I'm certainly not antidrugs, but Big Pharma aren't going to do the research into nettle because there's no money to be made in a 'weed' that grows everywhere. Definitely worth getting involved IMHO.

Spent the day unpacking and put together this collection of things I brought home with me from Italy and London - pic 1 is art stuff, pic 2 is personal things: I’ve tried to tag where I got everything.

I feel so lucky that I can travel as I do.

I’m especially excited about my new #muller from @l.cornelissen_and_son and my slippers from @piedaterrevenezia

“This is the Byram Arcade, this is about community”

In this month’s episode of Built For Real Life, I got the opportunity to sit down and have a chat with the owner of Byram Art and Design Studio @helenwilliamsonvisualartist, about the importance of creativity and the therapeutic side of it, how women can create something for themselves at home and the importance of community.

I really enjoy listening to the wisdom women share with me, as they are building a life on their terms, creating streams of income built on the skills they have already developed.

Let’s support Helen by resharing this reel, following her page and popping into her arts studio in Byram Arcade (Huddersfield).
