What does it mean to design for a world in climate crisis — not just to reduce harm, but to regenerate, reimagine, and rebuild within planetary limits?

🌱 The G42 experts are doing just that — advancing Eco & Planetary Design across systems, sectors, and scales.

From food systems innovation to circular materials and systemic coaching, they’re proving that design isn’t just a creative force — it’s a planetary one.

🌍 Meet three of the minds shaping this transformation — more to come:

World Design Congress is just around the corner and I’m thrilled to be representing @design_declares_ireland with fellow member and powerhouse @charlotte_barker_pro alongside our UK, Australian, and Brazilian counterparts.

This year, Congress is all about Design for Planet. It is a call to action for designers worldwide to address climate breakdown and use their skills to move beyond the take, make, use, and waste model our industry perpetuates.

My work with Design Declares and @portion_collab has reinforced my belief that where there are complex problems there are many more opportunities for good design. So I’m going into these few days feeling hopeful and open to bigger and bolder thinking!

If you’re going to Congress, hit me up! Or join us on Wednesday 10th, 2pm at the Barbican, London.

🧚🏻 Recently, @dr_francesca_zampollo published an updated version of her iconic visualization outlining the various sub-disciplines that fall within #whatfooddesignersdo

🤔⁉️ "So you make things look pretty on a plate", is something every food designer has heard from prospective clients, partners and collaborators. And there's nothing more frustrating than that.

📣 So, we invite our network of coaches and practitioners, who work in every corner of the food design discipline to share with us how they explain their work in order to demonstrate the value of their expertise.

🤗 And don't forget to share your thoughts, or your own definition too!

💡Remember, “there are as many definitions of food design as there are people trying to define it!

As it should be!”

Session 4 done and we’re all feeling energised with all the inspiring knowledge and expertise shared this week.

Our wonderful speakers all play an active and impactful role in the food system transition albeit in relatively different ways.

Key learnings:
👉Corporations have influence and scale that food businesses can leverage through collaboration
👉VCs exist to be your partner and facilitators of such collaborations
👉Never think of your business & solution in vacuum as the only way to truly be impactful is by building an ecosystem of partners that can help you grow
👉There is room for everyone in the food system transition because we need all hands on deck to succeed and the opportunities are abundant

We then concluded the session with a workshop on how to map out your ecosystem and identify value adding and impactful opportunities.

Btw you can still sign up to get access to all previous and future sessions as well as supporting worksheets, video guides and mentorship opportunities.

Looking forward to seeing you all next week.

“Partnerships are the only way forward to make radical change at the speed we need to see” - to be a future proofed team / business we need to take a systems thinking mindset

@lara_hanlon is an expert in this, she gave us a topline overview in her Ask the Expert (now on demand for members) and we are taking corporate bookings now for her CPD certified Masterclass from retailers, foodservice, manufacturers and brands - email the team to book your team on: ffm@veris-strategies.co.uk

It’s no secret that our food system is incredibly complex 🤯

Organisations, products and services are just the tip of the iceberg – for a food system to work properly we also need to consider climate, technology, culture and economics.

But taking a whole-picture approach can be daunting.

In this Ask the Expert session, FFM coach @lara_hanlon explores how taking a systems approach enables us to analyse how different drivers, factors, people, and parts are connected.

🧠 This offers us a completely new perspective on the food system as we know it, providing an opportunity to establish the new patterns and behaviours needed to achieve systemic transformation.

Now available on Demand to all FFM Members. Head to Events in your Community portal to watch.

Thank you to all our attendees and the thought provoking questions and observations you brought to the session (swipe 👉).

We hope Lara’s Ask the Expert has given you a taster of what Systems Thinking is. Want to know how to embed a Systems Thinking model into your business? Get in touch if you would like to book a group masterclass or as an individual. More info and how to book: link in bio.

Don’t forget to sign up to our Community to join our upcoming Ask the Experts.
