The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FRCN Headquarters Chapel, have paid glowing tributes to late journalist, Ms. Gwamkat Gwamzhi, describing her as a dedicated professional and passionate unionist whose contributions to journalism will not be forgotten.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the NUJ FRCN Chapel, Daniel Adejo, the union expressed deep sadness over her sudden death, noting that the late journalist served the corporation with commitment, professionalism, and excellence.

According to the statement, Gwamkat began her service at Highland FM, Jos, before she was transferred to the FRCN Headquarters and posted to the Political Unit under the News Directorate, where she distinguished herself through hard work and passion for journalism.

The union further stated that her dedication to multimedia journalism later earned her redeployment to the New Media Directorate, where she continued to display creativity and outstanding commitment in carrying out her duties.

Until her death, she was covering the Petroleum Beat for the corporation and was said to have handled the assignment with courage, professionalism, and dedication.

The statement also highlighted her active involvement in union activities, describing her as a committed member of the NUJ who strongly believed in the welfare and protection of journalists. She had earlier served as an executive member of the NUJ in Jos before her transfer to Abuja.

Colleagues and friends remembered her as a cheerful, humble, and friendly personality whose positive spirit and warm relationship with others made her widely admired within the FRCN family.

The NUJ prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked God to grant her family, colleagues, and loved ones the strength to bear the painful loss.

24 Years of Broadcasting Excellence: Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM Akure Celebrates a Legacy of Impact

Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM, Akure, is marking its 24th anniversary, celebrating a remarkable journey that began on April 20, 2002, and has since evolved into a compelling story of resilience, professionalism, and public trust.

From its inception, the station was driven by the pioneering efforts of its kick-off team, whose dedication, sacrifice, and commitment laid the solid foundation for its present day success. Their vision helped shape a broadcast institution that has remained steadfast in its mandate to inform, educate, entertain, and inspire the public.

Under the leadership of the pioneer General Manager, Alhaji Kola Animashahun, the station commenced operations with a clear purpose and a strong sense of responsibility. The early years were characterized by diligence, teamwork, and a shared determination to establish a radio station distinguished by quality, credibility, and service to the people.

Over the past 24 years, Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM has continued to blaze the trail in broadcasting, earning widespread respect for its consistency, professionalism, and relevance in an ever evolving media landscape. Its growth reflects not only institutional strength, but also the unwavering commitment of staff, past and present, who have upheld the station’s core values and mission.

The General Manager of Fresh FM Akure, Dokun Ladele, a former General Manager of Progress and Gold FM stations within the Radio Nigeria network and a retired Deputy Director of News at the Ibadan Zonal Station, congratulated the station on the milestone. He described the anniversary as an opportunity for reflection and encouraged staff to sustain the momentum for continued relevance in a rapidly changing media environment.

This morning was special.
In the middle of a busy broadcast environment, the women at Radio Nigeria @positive_fm_ paused for something different—Ballet Wellness.@positive_fm_
For a few moments, work pressures disappeared and were replaced with breathing, gentle movement, grace, and laughter.
It was beautiful to see how something as simple as mindful movement can refresh the mind and uplift the spirit.
Wellness can be graceful. 🩰🌸
