Some of my favorite memories were made around a dining table, which is exactly why I think so much about how these spaces feel.

I often weave in reclaimed beams for a sense of warmth and intimacy, and love cushioned chairs with washable slipcovers and casters, because ease and comfort are sure to keep people at the table long after the meal has ended 🤎

Drapery is one of my favorite ways to weave warmth and texture into a room 🤍

A few things to keep in mind:

Opt for neutral materials like linen or cotton voile in soft, muted tones, ivory and gentle cream, warm taupe, or a natural oatmeal

Make sure your walls complement rather than compete. Hues like Sherwin Williams' Accessible Beige or Aesthetic White serve as a soft backdrop to drapery without a hint of harsh contrast.

Install floor-to-ceiling panels with ring-top hardware mounted just below the ceiling line, to draw the eye up and let the light move through.

Little choices like these can entirely transform the feeling of a room.

Last week we hosted an amazing group and had a blast exploring what our region has to offer. Here’s a snapshot of what we covered.

In this home the basalt stone hardscaping and chiseled limestone walls flow into the front foyer, enhancing the connection between indoors and out. The same stone defines the fireplace in the double-height great room, juxtaposing the wood ceilings and imported fumed oak flooring—the result of a close collaboration between all parties involved.

Built into a slope high over a scenic lake, this expansive abode features one- and two-story pavilion-like forms clad with chiseled Indiana limestone. The vistas are perhaps even more breathtaking from the second-floor master suite, where a bronze four-poster bed with a branch-like motif by Jiun Ho references both the natural landscape and bronze windows overlooking the magnificent pool, spa and landscape.

Sampling is one of the last steps before a decision and yet many brands still make it hard to do. Think of:
- Hidden sample CTAs
- Manual request processes
- Slow follow-up

Meanwhile, 99% of designers say samples are important.

Designers don’t need more inspiration. They need to move forward, and if ordering a sample isn’t immediate, you’re adding friction right when intent is highest.

As Courtney Ward of @possarchplan noted, fast, direct sample ordering helps teams keep project momentum.

Designing this Aspen home was all about listening to the landscape, and every choice followed from there 🎿 Each room is meant to feel like a natural extension of the beauty just beyond the windows, perfectly suited for that slow, cozy après ski rhythm we all live for.

Cold cheeks, warm fires, and a home that wraps you up the moment you walk through the door. This was such a dream to work on!

A well-chosen neutral palette is one of the most enduring design elements you can bring into your home and these are the shades I find myself returning to again and again 🤍 They carry such warmth, depth, and a quiet complexity that shifts beautifully with the light. Think creams that turn almost golden in the afternoon. Taupes with just enough grey to stay interesting. Whites that feel collected, not cold. C'est magnifique!

Patina is one thing you simply cannot design, and that's exactly what makes it so special.

It is earned slowly, over decades of use and time. Worn brass, reclaimed wood, aged stone smoothed by years of touch and weather - these are the details that draw you in, giving a home its warmth and sense of story.

Is there anything more divine than a stately soaking tub? 🛁

Whether it's a sculptural freestanding silhouette, a timeless clawfoot, or a deep soaking basin tucked beneath a window, the right tub transforms any bathroom into a personal sanctuary.

We’ve been working on something BIG. As beautifully shown in our first book, Natural Elegance, the cofounders of WRJ Design, Rush Jenkins and Klaus Baer, have a singular approach to mountain living. We are renowned for incorporating clean lined, contemporary design into envelopes of rugged stone and natural wood. Now, in our second forthcoming book, we lift this combination of the bespoke and the wild to new heights. We can’t wait to share the cover and title with you, later THIS MONTH. Watch this space for more book release updates!
