The issue of the year! Our September/October issue spotlights the winners of our 2026 Western Living Designers of the Year awards, an influential group who reflect the very best of a design scene that’s already at the top of its game. From an interior designer who credits her early years at sea for her creative streak, to an industrial designer who finds inspiration in abandoned materials, to a landscape designer who embraces the wild side—this year’s winners bring ingenuity and excellence to design across Western Canada.

Read all about them at our link in bio—and subscribe to the print edition for free to become a part of Western Canada’s incredible design scene.

So much appreciation to @westernliving for this wonderful honor. Being recognized as a 2026 design icon and welcomed into the WL hall of fame which includes a list of luminary design icons, is a career milestone for which I am truly grateful. #westernlivingmagazine #robertbaileyinteriors

Thank you to Anicka Quin for her generous story ( link in bio ) and to Tanya Goehring for her great captures ( Hugo thanks you too).

The Acorn founders's, Shira Blustein and Scott Lewis, home is filled with musical instruments, art and playful corners. From a spiral staircase to a chess board that sits at kids' height, the space is full of things to explore.

EEEEeeeeeek! Winnipeg Folk Festival here we come! A bit of a heavenly dream(coming true) to be honest. Riding this high still! Sometimes I don’t know where to turn my attention to, there is so much good going on. So I keep myself grounded and surrounded by lovely people. It helps.

@winnipegfolkfestival is for most a total bucket list festival to play at, and I’m super stoked to be bringing along with me the guys, John, Stef and Arzen ~ for a full string-band feel! We’re hoping to see all you beautiful folks for our THREE SHOWS Friday, Saturday & Sunday on the Chickadee Stage @winnipegfolkfestival

I’m thrilled to have been nominated for the 2026 @westernliving designer of the year award in the “Maker” category. Now is your chance to vote for me!

I am so proud of all the work that went into creating the tile, lighting, and other functional ceramics for our kitchen. Being able to design and produce unique objects for personal spaces has always brought me a lot of joy. The problem solving involved in designing new works is what keeps excited about the medium of clay.

If you’re curious about the rest of the kitchen design, @hubes1000 was the brains behind the range-hood, and he designed and built all the woodwork.

Thanks for voting and sharing! The link to vote is in my bio.

Reach out any time to visit the studio and view lighting and other ceramics works.

We have been quiet on IG for a little while but over the last few months we’ve hosted some great events including this panel on creating personal work and building your art practice. Thanks to our wonderful panelists @grantharder @gggloriawong and @jackiedivesphoto for sharing your art and for the honest conversations. Shout out to John at @gallery881_ for the space @madeinstrathcona and @printmaker.studio for their support of the Another Room Photo Festival at Gallery 881 this past April. @anotherroom.salon. And to our moderators @post_photography @missyshanastudio and to our volunteers and everyone who came.
