‘The exposé of Junes!’

Original songs ready to record, a sound of their own, and a band eager to take things into the studio. 🎙️

Meet @junesbandofficial! Bringing together indie rock, bossa nova rhythms, funky grooves, smooth blues and hints of flamenco, these guys have been building something of their own - from making the most of Hillhead’s music room to playing gigs around Aberdeen (@drummondsopenmic).

We were treated to two of their originals on Artists in Aberdeen, and their rebelliously charming ballad “Devil of Regret” was a personal highlight. We’ld love to hear what they create in a professional studio.

Aberdeen producers, recording studios and music people: know a way to help these independent artists take the next step? Whether it’s a free recording session, a discounted rate or a connection with someone who could help, we’d love to hear from you! Give Junes a listen and get in touch directly via. @junesbandofficial

A big thank you to Junes for coming on the show, and to @izzyconfidentialradio for joining me! ❤️

A few weeks ago, Lesley-Anne Rose from Open Road was busy dropping off publicity around Insch for our upcoming performance of The Last People on Earth at Bennachie Leisure Centre.

And what a location for a show about Scotland’s past and the final performance, this tour!!

Legend has it that this area may have been the site of the Battle of Mons Graupius, where the Caledonians and Roman army are believed to have clashed.

Join us THIS SATURDAY, 24 October at 7.30pm with a special appearance by Insch Community Choir, for an evening of storytelling, original music and history brought to life by celebrated Scottish storyteller Andy Cannon.

Bennachie Leisure Centre, Insch
£12 full price / £8 concession (booking fees apply)

“I’m not a printer, I’m a troublemaker.”

Meet Willie - the founder of Aberdeen Zine Library.

We spoke about zines, from their roots in protest and punk culture to the beauty of passing in your ideas on to someone else.

There’s something freeing about zines. They don’t need to be polished, commercial, or made with expensive materials. Sometimes, the things lying around you become the things worth keeping. They hold memories, ideas, and little pieces of people’s lives.

“It’s about making a note — and passing it on.”

Willie earnestly shared that the dream is to make Aberdeen Zine Library a full-time space and cultural landmark for Aberdeens creative community where people can discover, share and create!

To help it happen , REPOST, SHARE and LIKE our post! ✉️ Show some support to @aberdeenzinelibrary

Got an idea for Aberdeen Zine Library? Willie is making a calling to anyone with ideas, projects and workshops to give them a shout on instagram at @aberdeenzinelibrary !

Thankyou @jrahstudio for the wonderful captures.

As a songwriter, Alix sometimes wonders about what are strangers life’s like on the train. If every person had a song, their song, what kind of tune would you start humming if the stranger you saw, sitting on the seat across to you on the train - was you?

This is what we spoke about with Alix Budd, a brave and driven first-year music student at the University of Aberdeen, new to the city. Having been in Aberdeen for only a month, she has shared the joys joining @uoaacappella alongside her weekly performances at Brig O’ Dee bar!

Alix admited that songwriting is a way for her to explore and tell people’s stories, particularly what happens in people’s minds. Currently, she performs covers but doesn’t yet perform her own songs, of which she has written many. With an incredible voice and musicality, she’s excited to see where performing takes her this year, without urgency but with determination!

Alix also shared that her dream place to perform would be at the P&J @pandjlive . And we have a feeling she will! Show some love to @alixbudd.music - like, share, and support her music along the way!

Special thanks to @jrahstudio for capturing the show!
