One week until Moscelyne’s HATCHERY workshop! Bay Area folks might recognize @moscelyne_ for her work as the Resident Choreographer for @postballet where she most recently created this masterpiece, Magma. Lauded as “hot and dangerous” (SFClassical Voice), “wildly ambitious”(SFChronicle), and a “modern day masterpiece” (SF Arts), the evening-length work featured nine dancers of Post:ballet, live music by dj.ari.b, choreography and text by Moscelyne ParkeHarrison, and projections by Shana ParkeHarrison. Magma was the result of a two-year creative process similar to the structure of her upcoming HATCHERY workshop. You’re invited to join her next week for an incubation process for her latest project, sleeper hit! This workshop is ideal for dancers interested in embodied research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and deepening their personal virtuosity through character, style, and self-expression. June 22-26 at @citydancelive. Link in bio to register!

WORKSHOP ALERT: @moscelyne_ returns to SF to develop “sleeper hit!” ⭐️ Sleeper Hit: Devising Characters for Dance Theater with Moscelyne ParkeHarrison 📅 June 22-26 at @citydancelive, San Francisco 🚨 Registration deadline: May 22 This HATCHERY incubation workshop will explore the first scene of Moscelyne ParkeHarrison’s three-part “sleeper hit,” a piece that investigates the psychology of time and anticipation, and virtuosity as an expression of identity. Scene one centers on embodiment and character development through fashion. Working in collaboration with a stylist, this workshop will center fashion as an entry point into identity, presence, and performative selfhood. Garments will serve as the foundation for a devised process that investigates individuality and collectivity, revealing how we come to be seen by others and by ourselves. This workshop is ideal for dancers interested in embodied research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and deepening their personal virtuosity through character, style, and self-expression. 🔥 1 year since ‘Magma’ opened and closed 🔥 The culmination of 2 years of hard work with a dream cast of performers, and 16 seasons of acclaimed Bay Area dance company @postballet While I love the ephemeral nature of dance - there are some things which are meant to come back, especially works which become increasingly relevant as the economic and political landscape become more volatile, and climate change goes unchecked. All that being said, January 2025 was not the last the world will see of ‘Magma’. Here’s a sting of memories from the making of this evening length immersive work for @themidwaysf … in the meantime - I’ll be scheming its return. #dance #dancetheater #immersive #contemporyart

co-LAB with Babatunji + Charmaine happens THIS MONDAY, January 19, and we’re excited to welcome dancers into the studio for a full day of movement and discovery. From 9am–3pm at @citydancelive, these two incredible artists will guide you through a rigorous, joy-filled experience rooted in effort, curiosity, and play. The workshop includes Ballet Moves with Charmaine, focused on giving contemporary dancers accessible ballet tools that build clarity, strength, and yes… big ballet energy 💥 You’ll also dive into Floorwork with Babatunji, a breaking-based class that builds new skills and perspective (often upside down 🙃). The day culminates in a shared choreography session. Open to dancers ages 16+. Spots are limited — link in bio to register. Video: Charmaine in @postballet’s Magma with choreography by @moscelyne_.
