Loving the new camera on the iPhone 18 Pro! I’m sure it’s eating up my storage but who cares! Possible renaissance in store for my photo based practice. Zinnias continue to pay off in the garden. Reseeded from last year’s crop. #iphone18pro #flowers #zinnias #photography #artpractice

Humbled to have two pieces in the inaugural show of the new KC Clay Guild. The Lost Language of Cranes is a collaboration with potter and artist in residence Huey Lee. A glaze combination I like to think of as Vampire Celedon. Come see at the Richard Stern Gallery at the #kcclayguild 500 W 39th St. see schedule in final photo. #art #pottery #celedon #kcstudio

Innocent enough looking, right? Kurinuki chawan treated with salt solution then a commercial glaze full inside and 1/3 top, brushed on. BUT check out pics 2, 3 and 4!!! And as you can see in no.5 even the foot got into the act. Not what I intended at all but super interesting nonetheless. Some have had a visceral reaction with one potter referring to it as, “Object horror!” For me it looks like a refrigerator science project. Not so good in a tea vessel but will be VERY interested to see how it translates to sculptural forms. In fairness, teacher @potter._lee did warn me that salt glaze does not play well with others! Equal parts, “Yikes!” and “Ooo la la!” #kilngods #pottery #science #chemistry #sculpture

We love artwork that can be functional and beautifying!

Stop by the galleries and check out Jars, a group exhibition. Jars brings together a wide range of approaches to the jar form in contemporary ceramics. The jar form has been a staple in ceramic art for thousands of years. Artists invited to participate in this exhibition utilize various construction techniques and firing methods to create their ceramic vessels.

Jars will be on display through September
5th. Don't miss your chance to see these incredible vessels in person!

Participating Artists: Rachel Akin, Larry
Buller, Adria Chilcote, Maeve Hilgers, Huey Lee, Carol Long, Ed Noonen, Naomi Peterson, Sam Sequeira, Adelai Spears-Kennard, Kyla Strid, Nick Weddell

Kurinuki Gata. Very Iron Age. My tribute to China Walls. (If you know, you know.) Soaked in a super saturated salt solution with a thick matcha dip. The pitting was any unexpected bonus. #pottery #japanesepottery #teaceremony #matcha #stoneware

Spent an incredible week back at Arrowmont surrounded by so much creativity, generosity, and inspiration. It was such a joy to meet so many amazing new people, and spend time making alongside such a talented community.

Thank you to Arrowmont (@arrowmont_school) and to Huey (@potter._lee) for your incredible generosity and support. Coming back to Arrowmont always feels like catching up with an old friend.

My husband @atillius gave this @potter._lee piece the perfect home. I hadn’t noticed it until tonight, but Amit put a lamp on the console under it so the sculpture makes the most amazing shadows. Thanks Huey for the incredible art and Amit for finding it the best place in our home!
