Is there anything better than a weekend at home?!

I’m actually in Finland visiting family rather than at home, but will be home next weekend ❤️ we’ve been on a lovely walk in the woods, finished with a picnic and a fire ( you might have seen it in my stories), followed by sauna & dinner. It’s been lovely to be back and spend time with my family.

Hope your weekend has been good too ❤️

Seeing so many beautiful designs through my work often leaves me struggling to make decisions when it comes to our own home. So, working with @potterybarnuk to create a playroom that truly works for us took all the stress out of designing the space.

We wanted pieces that were functional, comfortable and built to stand the test of time. Choosing light fabrics for a playroom felt brave, but the performance Everyday Linen has already exceeded my expectations.

A room that was once hardly used has now become the first place we head to in the morning and the last place we leave at night.

We know, we know… Christmas is already on the grid 🎄
But when our clients’ Christmas inspo is this beautiful, can you blame us for getting into the festive spirit a little early? Here are a few of our favourite pics so far this year.

Is there anywhere better than bed? I don’t think so.

Literally, my favourite place in the world. Waking up in here with a nice hot coffee and a still slightly warm hot water bottle is my idea of a good time these days 🤣

Master Bedroom Setup

Still lots to do in this room but already loving the feel we are creating. It feels so much warmer and actually enjoying putting the lamps on at 5pm ready for the evening ahead.
We have a new bed (which was a gift from the incredible @housingunits ) and it’s transformed the room. The colour and texture are absolutely beautiful. Waiting for pillows to arrive and can’t wait to share it more. Also the most incredible service.

Our dressing table arrived today from @olivias.uk and again the quality and service were amazing. We’ve had this room for 4 years and it’s never felt like a proper bedroom so this feels pretty special.
Also need a mirror for the dressing table, there is a great @williamwood one on pre order my friend sent me.

Still lots to do to make it feel finished but so happy to finally see progress. I’ll have to dig out the before photos!

Why your neutral room feels flat 🤎

It’s rarely the colour, it’s usually a lack of texture.

A calm palette rests the mind, but without texture it can start to feel cold. When I style a neutral room, these are the four things I always reach for:

01 Soft edges. Linen, fringing, washed cotton.
02 Layered light. Lamps at different heights, never just the big light.
03 Something natural. Shell, stone, wood, a found piece.
04 Cool and warm together. Marble against oak and limewash.

None of it needs to be expensive. It’s about giving the eye something to rest on.

Save this for the next time a room feels flat, and send it to someone who’s in the middle of decorating.

I put together a fall garland and I can’t stop staring at it every time I walk past🥹
It’s literally made my space fill cozy and injected it with so much life at the same time and I guess that’s the beauty of flowers.

I use English hydrangeas this time and all of the hydrangeas I use for this plus my tablescape cost me about £40 which was incredible.

Hydrangeas and foliage were from @porters_covent_garden which is in @marketflowers
The Christmas garland is from @potterybarnuk
The mirror is from @williamwood
I used @command hooks at the base
The cylinder vases are from @ikeauk

If you wanted, you could use water picks to let the hydrangeas have access to water for a bit longer and you can grab those on @amazonuk
If you decide to use fake flowers instead, just make sure you get some that have good colour variation

Love,
Marbie
