🏫 THIS IS THE WARNING. Germantown High School closed its doors in 2013. Today, its former campus is a reminder of what can happen when a school closes and the community loses its voice in what comes next. ⚠️ Now, 17 Philadelphia schools are slated for closure. 🚨 What happens to those buildings? Who controls them? Who benefits? And will the community have a real say? 👥🏾 We cannot let 17 school closures become 17 lost community assets. Our schools belong to the communities they serve—and their futures must be decided with the community, not for the community. ✊🏾 #SaveOurSchools #CommunityFirst #PhiladelphiaSchools #ANewVisionANewVoice

The challenges surrounding the Germantown YWCA raise an important question: 👉🏾 When does representing a community become making decisions for a community? Residents should not have to fight for a voice in decisions that directly affect their neighborhood. Development should not simply happen to communities—it should happen with them. 💡 A New Vision. A New Voice. means respecting the responsibility of being an elected official while also respecting the voices of the residents. Councilmatic prerogative is a good thing—until it silences the very people it was intended to serve. 8th District deserves better. Our residents deserve a seat at the table. 🏘️✊🏾 #SaveTheGermantownYWCA #8thDistrict #ANewVisionANewVoice

🚨🏫 BRING THE COMMUNITY BACK TO THE TABLE. Philadelphia’s children and families deserve better than decisions made without meaningful community input. I’m calling on the School Board to come back to the table and reconsider the proposed school closures. 🗣️🤝 Before we close neighborhood schools, we need to take a hard look at the facts: 📚 What does this mean for our students? 👨‍👩‍👧 What does this mean for families? 🏘️ What does this mean for our neighborhoods? 💰 And are there better alternatives? A school is more than four walls. It can be a community anchor, a place of opportunity, and a foundation for the future. 🌱 Don’t close the door on our communities. Open the conversation. The School Board should pause, listen, reconsider, and bring residents back to the table. A New Vision. A New Voice. 💙💛 #JeffJonesForCityCouncil #ANewVisionANewVoice #PhiladelphiaSchools #8thDistrict
