What an unforgettable evening at the First Annual Garden of Eden Benefit Concert! 💚

More than 100 dancers from dance companies, schools, churches, and ministries across NYC came together to use the art of dance to inspire hope, healing, and encouragement in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Because of your support, we were honored to present a $4,000 donation to Directions for Our Youth, accepted by Robert Brown, Director of the Butler Program. We are grateful for the connection made through our board member and mentor, Kathleen Isaac. Also thank you to Directions for Our Youth for featuring Eden in your newsletter as an “Agent of Change.” We are honored by the recognition and grateful to support the incredible work you do for youth and families in our community.

We were also privileged to honor Augusta Wilson, Michelle’s first dance teacher and a true pioneer in dance ministry, for her years of service, dedication, and commitment to training generations of young dancers.

The spirit of unity throughout the night reminded us how the arts can positively impact mental wellness, build community, and uplift lives.

Thank you to every dancer, volunteer, supporter, and attendee who made this event possible. We left inspired, encouraged, and already looking forward to an even greater gathering next year! ✨

Super Special Post Alert 💜

This year of teaching for me is so special. I’m so honored to teach Modern dance class at Kim Jay Dance Company @kimjaydanceco. The Lester Horton technique holds such a sacred place in my heart because it’s the technique that made me fall in love with Modern dance. To be able to teach it to young artists and watch them embody the movement in their own unique way brings me so much joy and fulfillment.

These dancers are so gifted and resilient. They come in ready to take on whatever challenges that the discipline of the technique presents and it drives my zeal to push them into artistic excellence even more!

I’m honored to carry the torch in the preservation of Classical Modern dance in Black spaces.

Thank you Ms. Kim for trusting me with your amazing movers!
